Oklahoma’s GOC 2025 group left a lasting impression
I took a trip across the state line for a reason and I knew the trip would be worth it because the night before the evaluations started, I was riding around at night checking out the scene 6 deer hanging out in someone’s yard and that definitely was a sign yet another sign was I had seen a couple of the club’s high school players, Katie Allen and Tori Kilburn, multiple times and the high school teammates had already left me with lasting impressions but they weren’t the only ones as I break down their 2025 group in this article followed by their 16U squad, then the 7th and 8th middle school which includes 2026 Ti’Heiress Davis, another young lady I caught a while back yet her progression left me speechless but here we go
Katie Allen
Allen continues to show me different things and before I even knew who she was on another team, I watched her go completely off so her ability to drop the long ball multiple ways doesn’t surprise me, she opened her HS career with 5, another 2 or rimmed out, so yeah, that has been solidified yet watching her defend gave me chills because she reads the defense very well, that includes playing the passing lane but she also did a good job “on the ball” so her ability to catch and shoot is even better than I thought, so is her attacking and scoring with the “FLOATA”
Tori Kilburn
Kilburn’s upside is eerie because she does so many things instinctively and being long and athletic, that’s the base, doesn’t hurt, well it hurts the defender because she can slice by them from the wing and score, finishes well after the lick but she also finished using good body control but her mid to long-range, coupled with her quick release, is also a threat not to leave out she rebounds strongly on both ends and can handle the ball the length of the court after rebounding for baskets, defends well also
Ava O’Kelley
O’Kellley had me thinking ” OH MY” as she scored off the dribble so well that I just smiled but she did it with either hand, showed she could also finish with either hand but here’s the kicker, she creates her shot so well under pressure and can knock the jumper down that the defender has to respect her shot and this was helpful in her getting by them attacking the basket. Let me not leave out her court vision, sees the floor very well
Avery Alberson
Alberson also creates her shot under pressure and with a deceptive first step, she can get to the basket almost anytime she wants yet she also has a nice pull-up in transition as well as in the set but her handling of the ball under pressure was nice and that added to her attacking the rim, especially in the open court where she also did a good job dishing going full speed yet her intensity on both ends definitely was something else as she created turnovers
Lexis Vicars
Vicars is one of many shooters on this squad and she showed she could drop the long ball from very deep and she showed that in both the 1 on 1 drill as well as the 5 on 5. Yeah, she does a good job of scoring off the dribble as well as defending baseline to baseline yet her upside is very nice because she does quite a few things that may not show up on a score or stat sheet so that in itself is huge but her poise under pressure is something you can’t teach
Adrianne Carpenter
Carpenter builds her game very well as her ability to score in the flow is what grabbed me at first yet watching her play the passing lane over and over was nice as she uses her athleticism well but she too has a nice first step to get by the defender and she finishes strongly yet her jumper in the set is consistent, so is her range so she added she could also score when she wanted as well as in the flow which will come in handy
Bailey Marshall
Marshall is one of those “never takes a play off” type of player and her high energy just keeps coming at you on both ends as she “battled for the boards” on both ends of the court and did a good job of scoring around the basket as well as off of putbacks yet she applied “Marshall Law” to restore order when things got sloppy, her interior defense was solid, so was her ability to defend outside the paint but just her mindset in itself is very good
Avery Kales
Kales scores off the dribble well, well that is an understatement as she did it very well but what she also brings to the table is her moving without the ball as well as her inside moves around the basket which enabled her to score multiple times, good hands and footwork are always positives yet she had plenty to add too and her rebounding, as well as her defense in and outside the paint all, were nice
