North Shore wins 2014 Texas Invitational

2014 N Shore TI champs

PASADENA, Texas- I didn’t understand the seeding’s for the Texas Invitational this year and after watching the teams for two days, I thought Cedar Hill and Cy Woods should be on opposite sides. North Shore was my personal preseason pick as the team to beat and Cy Woods, with five D1 starters, was a close second. North Shore has opened up the season barely getting by both Hightower and Manvel and losing down the stretch to Barbers Hill and even in the Texas Invitational they haven’t quite put it together like I think they will. I said all that to say this, the Mustangs have multiple players that can score double figures but the key is the #sizedontmatter guards setting the tone. Both Adriiana Jackson (Dillard) and Chastity Patterson are capable of going off at any time but the heat they can bring from not only these two but numerous guards is something no other team has. Tiffany Arceneaux has been huge, dropping four threes to help secure one win and huge steals and baskets in another but looking at the score as the edged by a talented Desoto squad (50-48) was impressive

Even more impressive was their (57-54) win over Cy Woods and with no box score in the paper nor the ability to teleport back and forth through time, aka YouTube, I’m curious at how the west was won because the Lady Wildcats are no joke. Kayla Mack (Loyola) has been doing the little things that may not show up in the box score while Alyssa Okoene has shown signs of brilliance but the energy from both Tre Norris and Shae Jackson have been huge plus the return of Deja Hughes, who had a slight burn, will be vital. Maybe the Mustangs have already turned the corner; the shots hadn’t been falling in the early part of the season however I knew eventually they would be okay so maybe their ready to take it up a notch or two. Nevertheless, I still consider Shore and Woods as the teams to beat out of R3 6A, they’ll probably meet again in the semis of the playoffs if memory serves correctly but they play at Atascocita today at 1pm so I think that’s a trip I‘ll make
