North Lamar Division Standouts #TJShowcase
Caught a few surprises in this division and the CHAMPIONSHIP game was one of the best I’ve seen this season, dropped it on Prep Girls Hoops as Austin Elite Black E40 defeated Phoenix 2027 in overtime but here are some others
Kendall Barker (SA Finest Knight)- has solid court vision both in the set as well as in the open court. She also used a deceptive first step to get the defender off balance to score off the dribble
Britlyn Walls (SA Finest Knight)- is heady on both ends and her decision-making immediately stood out yet so did her ability to attack the basket from multiple angles to score or dish
Kaila Vega (SA Finest Knight) -does a good job of “mixing it up” and her being able to drop the midrange, it gave her options and also made the defender not play too tightly as she scored off the dribble
Destinee Sanchez (SA Lady Hoops AF1) showed up and out at #AllEyezOnMe yet she gave me another look at her mental toughness during the event which is why she grabbed the cover. She’s an athletic guard who uses her athleticism on both ends, played the passing lane, and scored multiple ways
Ada Thomas (SA Lady Hoops AF1) used her athleticism on both ends starting with defensive pressure in the set as well as baseline to baseline. She rebounded over taller players, saw the floor, and scored off the dribble
Oniyah Ledet, Quineysia Shaffer, and Aariyah Willis were some D5 Solid Standouts and SOLID is the right word as they made my New and Old Faces Tip Sheet from opening day
