Lady Houston Phenoms ready for 2017
HOUSTON, Texas- Usually when I write or say something about talent coming up before anyone else does, I say it for a reason and that reason is because I know what I’m talking about. I don’t really judge talent on today’s level, I look back at previous years before all of these people came up on board to “Make Basketball Great Again” popped up and it’s sort of taken a turn going the other way so always remember, “It’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against. My first look at the Lady Houston Phenoms seems like yesterday however the added gray hairs tells me otherwise and those original members simply told me I needed to keep watching this group because several had bright futures ahead of them. Jasmyne Harris was a legitimate BCS player and as a college freshman has stepped right into to stardom with the University of Houston as she’s the team’s leading scorer as well as making the All Freshman team in her conference while Joyce Kenerson, surprise, I told you so, and those who wouldn’t listen saying she was too small has just helped lead her Texas Southern University team to the NCAA Tournament
So many talented players have come through this organization that I had a chance to speak with Coach DJ about this season’s squad and he gave me a quick rundown. “ FR 6-4 Precious Johnson, SOPH 6-3 Ashley Kirven “Beaumont Ozen” and JR 6-4 Bikia Gipson “Beaumont Ozen” should hold down the paint while Juniors Dymond Gladney, Damaya Telemaque and Sophmore Briona Johnson should be very dangerous. With two 17u teams and a very talented 16u team that will play up. Damaya, Dymond, Briona and Precious as well as Lake Charles 8th grader Jeriah Warren who will be playing up, we will be in the mix” and I have to agree, I’ve seen most of these players including Warren who has LEGIT written all over her. With three graduating classes under their belt, here’s where players have gone on to play at the next level and remember, let me talk, just listen or better yet, let me type, just read because like Warren, I’m LEGIT
Here are some of the players that have moved on to the next level
