Insiders Basketball Classic Tip Sheet (WNBA and NCAA Divisions)

2015 Katie Burke IBC

KATIE BURKE

I have seen so much talent during the 2013 club season and whether it’s the ones I’m seeing for the very first time or the ones that continue to develop and improve, one thing is for certain and that’s Texas is still standing tall. Several players stood out at the Insiders Basketball Classic and I picked 10 from the WNBA and NCAA divisions

2014

Rangie Bessard-6’1 forward-Houston Elite White

I’ve truly enjoyed watching this young lady over the past five years as her game has simply evolved based on her hard work. She is not only strong in the paint, that was never a problem however she can now step out and hit the midrange consistently and this elevates her D1 status

Angela Delaney-5’8 guard-Sophia Young Elite Black

Multiple players on this star studded team were in the running but when I look back, game after game, Delaney simply showed me something different every time. Not only can she score and get to the rack whenever she wants, she also rebounds and defends hard

2015

Bailey Hill-5’8 guard-Sophia Young Elite Red

The organization has shooters galore and Hill showed she could stroke it with the best of them. Whether it was knocking down the midrange jumper or hitting the long one, Hill came up huge in many games and when you add the fact that she can take you off the dribble, it’s a done deal

Katie Burke-5’7 guard-Houston Premier Orange

Minor injuries aside, Burke’s had a huge coming out season and as her game continues to progress, so will the steady flow of college coaches continue to increase.  Her ability to set her teammates up for buckets is a valuable asset to go along with her skill set and since she’s the point, this spoke volumes

Brynae Thompson-5’8 guard-Houston Insiders Blue

Thompson appears to have turned yet another corner as her game progresses. A lefty, she can take you off the dribble almost at will and with a strong frame, she doesn’t mind getting physical while attacking. She has good range from bta and once she masters the midrange, the skies the limit

Lauren Grigsby-5’9 guard-Houston Fastbreakers

Her best basketball is ahead of her and when you see her play, you’ll find that scary. She can play man which is a lost art and she can also score on a variety of ways. She also has shown she can play multiple positions and her ability to read the floor on both ends adds to her value which continues to rise

Martina Rawls-5’10 forward-Triple D

Caught my first glimpse this season in the playoffs and was speechless after seeing her play. She has a college frame right now and doesn’t mind the punishment she receives in the paint. She can shoot it from anywhere on the floor and will also rebound on both ends but the most impressive thing is she never takes a play off

2016

Taylor Hunter-5’10 forward-Runnin Rebels

Hunter is gradually coming back from an injury and after seeing her go off on opening day, I get it. She can stroke it from downtown, uptown or anywhere else in town. She hasn’t peaked and I truly don’t think she realizes her potential but once she does, she’ll be taking games completely over

Kendall Rollins-5’11 forward-Katy Rebels Goss

Rollins height and game continues to grow as she’s a double-double waiting to happen and what’s so impressive is that she does it in the flow. She’s long and can post up smaller players or take bigger ones outside and nail the jumper. Don’t get too close because she can do it off the dribble as well and taking a lick while finishing is no problem

Jaelyn Richard-Harris-5’3 guard- Houston Lady  Roadrunners

Richard-Harris is another perfect example of size doesn’t matter as she joins several players in the area under 5’4 who WILL play at the next level. She’s fast and fearless and her ability to blow past defenders is a huge plus. She plays excellent defense and can shoot it from just about anywhere on the floor
