HoopAHolics session 1 video Tip Sheet

2015 hoopAppp

As the 2015 HoopAHolics Evaluation Camp closes, I finally had a chance to look at the session one highlight video and with multiple courts going at one time; I wanted to make sure I tried to get everyone that I possibly could because that’s what a true evaluator should do, right? Well it doesn’t always work out like that but that’s not how I cover an event and I was pleased to say that I was so excited to see this last segment that I actually watched it again and again. I already knew Myra Gordon and Sarah Andrews were going to be big time players but they’ve added several things to their games including court vision and the best compliment I can attribute to any player is those who make their teammates better and they’ve definitely entered into that zone

Kayla Gover, Gina Perez, Mia Topping and Hailey Arredondo all did a number of things but seeing the floor and defending are definitely ahead of the game. Kenzi Carter got it done both inside and outside, Zoe McCray and Morgan Hervey’s game and mindset have definitely gone to another level as both simply get it prior to high school and simply won’t back down. Taliyah Menefee and Trinity Barnes’ athleticism and ability to get to the rim had me smiling as they definitely showed some highlights taking the contact but speaking of highlights, Kiara Jackson’s floater and Deja Wilson’s reverse, both in traffic, showed their poise under pressure however the highlight that I played over and over was Claire Reynolds handling the ball in the open court and spinning through defenders for two and adding that in her repertoire is huge.

Taylor Morgan and Carleigh Wenzel already had range but their ability to catch and shoot with accuracy has gotten even better. Morgan also showed a neat crossover while attacking and Wenzel’s defense has gone up. Speaking of defense along with range, how about Daxia Melton who turned it on and even though I’ve mentioned many of these players already, either mini story, Tip Sheet or tweet, Jordyn Newsome, midrange and attacking the basket, Alysssa Reed, defense, range and hard to handle in the open court, and Lanae Johnson, another gear to blow by defenders and get to the rim, each showed me a little something extra

Jewel Spear also showed me something extra and then some and with her athleticism and also the ability to spin on a defender, watching her change hands in midair something I haven’t seen many pre-high school players pull off and with her range, well you better watch out. I spoke about Tamia Jones and her ability to not only get to the rim, but finish, as well as her range but I also noticed her quick hands in the highlight. Erin Fry sold me after two plays up the floor and all I can say about Chelsea Wooten is that like many of her fellow HoopAHolics campers, I’ll be saying a lot more because I see several college locks and many who are on the right path but as I close remember one thing, only YOU can make yourselves better, keep working and all of the coverage can be read by clicking link below
