GPR 2013 PTN Tip Sheet
Detyni Clark and Erin Wimberly
CARROLTON, TEXAS (IAD)
If you wanted it covered, I got the blanket and rest assured there won’t be any holes in it. It may come off as bragging however it isn’t and facts speak for themselves, just like the young ladies I’ve picked for round two on my Prime Time Tip Sheets. Please note thatt stories are popping up all through the day, refer back to my blog and also use the search features on both my blog and this site as well. The talent was at PTN, I’m giving you as much as I can and then some and here is my second group of 10
2013
Krystal Pickron-5-6 guard-D Nice (Royse City HS)
Talk about instant offense and Pickron immediately pops into my head. She was superb from midrange as well as taking the ball right at whoever was guarding her. It didn’t hurt that her quick release enabled her to get her shot off on anybody
2014
Mikayla Roundtree-5-8 guard –Frisco Select (Frisco HS)
Roundtree was simply explosive offensively and she wanted the ball in her hands down the stretch and not only did she get it, she came through. She handled the ball well in traffic, which enabled her to pick her spots where she would let it fly and when it landed it was usually for scores
Elyse Rodriguez-5-6 guard-Houston Hoops Matt (La Porte HS)
I’ve watched Rodriguez for years and one thing that hasn’t changed is she’s smart and steady, well I guess that’s two things which plays right into what she did a PTN. When her team needed two, she delivered either by setting her teammates up or doing what she can do, take over herself
Kristen Cunningham-5-10 forward-North Texas Shooters (Hebron High)
Big guards that can shoot are what college coaches’ love, especially when they have some of the intangibles Cunningham has. Not only does she have range, she can post smaller guards or take whoever off the dribble. She also can catch and shoot it with accuracy
2015
A’lacharion King-5-7 guard-Lady Fireballers (Nimitz HS)
I blew her up last season at PTN and she was up to her old tricks again. King is a very exciting ballplayer that can turn things around at the blink of an eye but if you blink, you might miss it because of her speed. She plays with a lot of passion and never takes a play off
2016
Tia Parks-5-7 guard-Elite Lady Jags (Hubbard HS)
Parks is a very athletic guard that can handle the ball, rebound and defend but what she does better than everything else is score. She will blow by defenders or knock down jumpers and if you don’t know where she is on the court, she might just pop in for offensive rebounds for scores
Destyni Clark-5-11 post-Lady Big Dogs (Irving North Hills Prep)
Clark’s game is elevating into BEAST mode just about every time she steps on the court. She’s strong, has good hands and footwork and understands her job is to grab the ball when a shot is missed and put the ball in the basket, she did both very well at PTN
Erin Wimberley-5-10-post- San Antonio Islanders (Smithson Valley HS)
The Islanders have an abundance of guards that can get the job done but Wimberley fits right in. I didn’t realize how many loose balls she went after on the floor until I looked at the pictures but she also rebounded very well and when it came up, she showed she could score as well
2017
Alex Coleman-5-4 guard-Cy Fair Nike AC (McKinney North HS)
Coleman was beaten up, pushed around, stepped on and might lose a toenail but guess what, even through all of that she came back game after game stronger. She’s a pass first point guard that can score, she’s smart and understands her role and knows who to get the ball to and where to give it to them
2018
D’Asia Collins-5-4 guard-Hybrid Hoops (Smith MS)
Collins receives my infamous “Bonecrusher” award because even though she was a baby playing against the big girls, she was never scared. Well she’s not a baby by any means and since I’ve been watching her for what seems like forever already, I’m watching the transformation and she gets it. Her defense continues to get better, her ball handling and IQ is on point plus she can score, go D!
