GPR 2013 March Fest Tip Sheet High School

Brooke McCarty Cy Fair pink

2014

Brooke McCarty-5-6 guard, Cy Fair Nike Elite

McCarty has become everything and more than I expected after that initial sighting. Her shot wasn’t always there but hard work has enabled her to become a legitimate scoring threat and not just a smart player that could run a team at an early age because with her knowledge, well put it like this. If there was a basketball IQ group similar to MENSA, she would be in that 98th percentile which won’t change when she becomes a Longhorn

Bria Frierson-6-1 forward, North Texas Shockers 2014 National Team

Frierson is one of several next level players on the Shockers team however every time I’ve watched her, she’s shown me a little something different. Having good hands along with being able to run the floor and finish are always great when you’re her size but her physicality on both ends along with her fight is a joy to watch

2015

Kyra Lambert-5-8 guard-Sophia Young Elite

It seems like only yesterday I was watching this eager and hungry young ball player at a Ganon Baker Camp in College Station, where she eventually committed to Texas A&M. Fact of the matter is that it was over three years ago and Lambert had “it” back then and although “it” means different for different players, her mentality is you just won’t beat her. Her scoring and ability to defend against older players sold a lot of schools early

Armani Allen-5-7 guard, DFW Elite Gold

Allen is another player on a very talented team that will have multiple “tipsters” throughout the season; yes I just make up words. One thing I won’t make up is evaluations and this young lady did quite well in a number of categorizes. I love guards that can score multiple ways, handle the ball and defend, she showed all that and then some

Joi Simmons-5-8 guard-Houston Elite White

Joi SimmonsSimmons plays bigger than her height in fact she appears to have grown and I’m talking about height and game. Last year after watching her for the first time, I knew she was a next level player just on her ability to knock down the midrange effectively and rebound over taller players. Her defense has become more intense and her ability to finish with contact is a highlight waiting to happen

2016

Maddie Brown-5-11 guard-NT United

Last season I called her a forward after a solid performance at Prime Time Nationals but Brown has just elevated her game to do more things and could definitely play a big guard at the next level. Already possessing a good body, this young lady doesn’t mind mixing it up and she’s mismatch waiting to happen in the paint. She can shoot the long ball, nice midrange and her ability to handle the ball in traffic has improved

Cierra Johnson-6-3-DFW Elite 2016

I’m sure people are saying they see me writing a lot about DFW players, well they have an abundance of talent from top to bottom throughout the organization and standing 6’3, there is no telling how high Johnson will be at the top once it’s over. She’s mobile and athletic, she’s strong and determined on the court and more importantly, she understands the game.

2017

DFW Scholly Me-5-6 to 6-3, all positions

The more I think about it, why not. Tip Sheet on the whole team coming
