GPR 2013 Last Run Tip Sheet
TYRA CORMIER
HOUSTON, TX- With over 30 teams and 300 players, I’m doing my thing and no matter if it rained real hard or the lights went out, I had a chance to be entertained by many young ladies who are not only shoe-ins for the next level, but many on the verge of being there as well. Keep in mind I respect what others do, but I truly don’t care what they write or basically their opinions. I’ve been doing this a very long time and my assessment of players may have not always been right, they’ve never been wrong. Okay, here’s another ten from The Last Run hosted by John Lucas and stay tuned for more from someone who truly knows
2014
Tyler Davis-5-8 guard-Cy Woods HS
I called TD “Miss Excitement” during last seasons playoffs and she’s still a crowd pleaser in the end zone. Davis athleticism, acrobatics and high energy on both ends doesn’t stop under any circumstances
2015
Gabby Stanton-5-6 guard-Atascocita HS
My phone has been blowing up since The Last Run about this kid and she’s getting BCS looks and it’s well deserved. Stanton continues to expand her game and legitimizes herself as one of the state top points in her class. She played with her club team this weekend, Cy Fair Nike Nationals
Shae Johnson-5’9 guard-North Shore HS
Talk about an adrenaline boost for an already high powered Mustangs team, Johnson may be just what the vet ordered to have them gallop to Austin. Her defense and intensity has never been a problem but as her offense turns another corner, hey you never know
JALYN CLAY
2016
Tyra Cormier-6-0 forward-Westbury Christian HS
I expected big things from TC back in middle school however injuries sort of had her on the back burner. Scratch that, she’s on the flame and after her performance at The Last Run; she’s secured a high spot on GPR Texas 2016
Taylor Hunter-5’10 forward-Cy Ranch HS
She has the right last name as she’s on the prowl and going after everything. She has a college ready body and her game is just about there as well. She scores from everywhere, inside and outside and is rebounding against bigger players
Jalyn Clay -6-2 post-Tomball Memorial
I’m always happy to see improvement and Clay has simply taken her game up several notches. She’s strong and athletic finishes and rebounds, that’s all good but what I really liked is she backed down from no one. She played with her club team this weekend, 3T Elite
Jakeira Ford-6-0 forward-Port Arthur Memorial
She was elevated to BEAST status when I saw her this summer, she’s even scarier now. She’s a super athlete that’s relentless in the paint, doesn’t mind banging on the inside, in fact she relishes it and is an and one waiting to happen. She played with her club team, the Houston Lady Phenoms this weekend
2017
Chennedy Carter-5-9 guard-Mansfield HS
She’s about as good as any guard I saw in middle school and how she progresses will be the final chapter. The story is titled BCS, she can do just about anything. Great body and body control, once she truly learns the game, all bets are off. She played with DFW Elite Blue Collar this weekend
2018
Madison Williams-6-0 forward-Trinity Valley MS
Let me just cut to the chase and give it to you like this. She’s a superb athlete that not only has great basketball skills but IQ as well. This kid does things seniors going to play at the next level don’t comprehend, so what does that tell you. She has a shot at all types of awards before it’s over. She went off for her DFW Elite Swift club team this weekend
Jasmine Smith-5-6 guard-Labay MS
I just loved this young lady’s demeanor when I saw her in the sixth grad and she’ll be added to the list of nicknamed once as I call her The Silent Assassin. Smith is heady and knows the game, she can score, she can defend and she never changes her expression. She’s going to be on several college most wanted lists and she showed she belonged with her Triple D club team at The Last Run
