Dekaney runner-up in 2013 FBISD Tournament
Dekaney lost two players to BCS schools season before last after coming off a state final game against Duncanville and last season they lost three players after making a run at a state final four again. I haven’t seen any of the other top teams in their region but I have seen Skyline and should both win district, they are on a collision course to meet each other in the E-8. Dekaney is high powered on both ends; Kayla Nevitt is a legitimate star and with Jaelyn Richard-Harris running the one, this is one of the more exciting teams I’ve seen is they play both ends baseline to baseline. An improved Abby Whyte, plus Lauren Grigsby who doesn’t realize how good she is because she too has BCS game gives the Lady Wildcats a great nucleus. Freshman Keishawna Scott has a very bright future, she and Harris are two of the fastest players in the city, with the ball and that combination will keep Dekaney in the mix over the next three seasons for sure. Dekaney handled Cy Ranch in the semis 45-38, Ranch had been flirting with a loss after game one in the event and being outscored 9-2 in the third sealed their fate but much and be attributed to Dekaney’s pressure. I don’t know how Cy Woods beat them 52-35 in the FBISD championship, to be honest I thought their game against the Mustangs was the real championship however that’s why you play the game and I wish I had stayed
