Cy Woods holds on to win District 17

Cy Woods proved to be the” belle’s of the basketball” in District 17, the district I consider to be the toughest in R3. Cy Woods put on a gritty performance to come out on top after losing two of their first three games to teams that didn’t even make the playoffs, back to back three point losses to Langham Creek and Cy Ridge. Erica and Olivia Ogwumike have a legitimate shot at making a run to Austin, just like their older sisters did at Cy Fair. You have to wonder what would have happened if Sydney Coleman hadn’t torn her ACL at Cy Ranch because they were the team to beat coming into district. Then it was a rejuvenated Cy Falls team who went from being a team loaded with “Da Bomb Squad” to showing they could win another way as Carol Willie’s offense had caught up with her defense. Cy Creek showed promise with the inside duo of Dani Fielder and Ikpeaku Iwobi who at times were simply dominant but all four of these teams are capable of exploding
