Cy Falls Still Rolling
Cy Fair’s reign as district champion is just about over. Coming into the game against Cy Falls, they were only one game back and I was prepared for an upset because of the way the season had gone with so many upsets and with the temperature dropping, the setting was perfect. Cy Falls was having no part of any of this after falling behind 2-0, they went on an 8-0 run and never looked back winning 66-46. Bobcats guard Cassie Peoples was doubled most of the night and still led all scorers with 21 points. Peoples did everything she could to try and get her teammates involved early in the scoring, however their shots simply wouldn’t fall as they ended the first quarter down 21-10.
Coach James Stephens stresses he doesn’t have any superstars and they just work hard. What I see in Falls is a team that has everything it takes to get out of here. They have the bigs, Larissa Scott got the ball rolling early and finished with 13 points and along with Carol Willie, controlled the paint. They have the guards, Kit Metoyer and Macy Moore, who scored 11, are two of the best long range shooter in the area and do everything guard Sedalia Ellis, who scored 12, has added a spin move to her game. They also have the bench, Shernise Robertson , who was a Chronicle Preseason AGH selection, nailed a bomb at the buzzer to extend the lead to 20 and another player known for her long range shooting, Karen Sanchez, got into the action in the third quarter as well. Can Falls be beaten? Well after beating Elsik by double digits on the road earlier in the season, they lost to that same team two days later ending their 11 game winning streak. That’s the only blemish on their record so far, as they have won 21 straight games in their new streak and are (32-1) on the season. They have Langham Creek and Cy Woods left, Woods is one game behind, so the stage has been set, we’ll see who finishes the act.
