Cy Falls Moves To Elite 8

Falls vs Taylor sweet 16

Cy Falls is one of those teams that has the ability to turn it on and off against most of the teams in the city and this was one of those games as they jumped to a 17-2 lead against Katy Taylor and appeared to be on the verge of blowing this game wide open early with their pressure defense. Samantha Roach came off the bench to give the Mustangs a boost as the gapped was closed after one 24-14. During that opening quarter, several great things happened; one Sadalia Ellis got them going with a three and Carol Willie scored 6 points, this is a plus, especially for Willie because when you have scorers like they do from the outside, some type of inside presence is icing on the cake. Speaking of cake, Loryn Goodwin had hers as she scored 9 in the opening period on her way to 22 for the ball game. Logan Johnson kept Taylor within striking distance in that same period with 5 of her own but Falls extended the leaded to 14 at the half, even though both teams shot poorly, bright spots Ellis hit another three and Kit Metoyer scored a couple of buckets. Cy Falls blew it wide open in the third as they lead by over 20 at one point, Shernise Robertson and Goodwin carried the offensive load in the second half as they cruised to a 70-48 victory. Amira Jenkins scored 13 of Taylors 27 second half points while Robertson tied Goodwin as high point scorers for the Eagles, Ellis added 10. Cy Falls will play the winner of the Seven Lakes vs Cy Ranch match-up tomorrow.
