Burke ready for challenge

KATIE BURKE (2015)

The Woodlands lost four players to the next level and after coming off a district title and area semifinal appearance, things probably would be looking bleak for most teams however the Highlanders aren’t one of them and will once again compete for the district title. While losing so many seniors and almost sixty percent of their offense, they still have 6’4 Kelsey Lang (Texas)  one of the top posts in the country who was also their second leading scorer last season, one of two players who averaged double figures. They also have Nicole Iademarco and Kristin Mahoney, a couple of players from the 2014 class who not only had solid summers but will play at the next level, both put in work on varsity as well last season.

Katie Burke (2015) will get a shot as she moves up to varsity and although I’m not sure what guard position she’ll be playing, she showed she could handle both spots over the summer and is ready for the challenge. A smart and steady ball handler who can open up defenses with her outside shot, Burke has the tools for the next level as well and the good news is that she has time as she made a big jump over the past year and is now among the top guards in the area for her class
