Alodia Prime Time Rising Stars Showcase
Covering events the right way is draining and time consuming however no matter how tired I am, the show must go on. The Alodia Prime Time Rising Stars Showcase proves once again that talent is everywhere and the thing that impressed me more than anything else is the talent yet to hit high school which ensures that Houston will remain a must stop for college coaches looking for players that can help their programs at the next level. Always remember that there are talented players everywhere and the reason Girlz Prep Report was started was to try and give exposure to as many players as possible, not just the ones you always hear about or the phrase I like to use the most, “the players who are set”. There are only so many 5 star players in the country, state and area and believe me the talent level isn’t too far off on many of these other young ladies who are not so it gives me a lot of pleasure to promote those players you may not have heard a lot about or even heard about at all. Many area programs are filled with those type of players that I just mentioned, maybe not “superstars” that are household names but good solid players, many of whom have next level written all over them.
UMA RAJAGOPALAN
This tournament also gave me a good idea on what to expect during the next school season and with a loaded class like 2012 departing, the make-up of several programs will be changing as many of those who were top dogs will find themselves regrouping while others will be on the verge of greatness. College Park is one of those teams that might just be on the verge of running the district as the steady improvement of Uma Rajagopalan and Cami Shafer, both players ball for Legends TT, will play a major role in how far CP can go. Another team that may be on the rise again is Cy Fair and if the five straight three pointers Alodia’s Brianna Dobbins dropped in the first half against Legends TT is any indication, she and the Cy Fair Heat’s Taylor McCowan will provide a good nucleus to start next season for the Bobcats. More to come as I give a little insight on who and what I saw over the next few days so stay tuned.
