All Eyes On She-Varsity Showcase Tip Sheet

I’m closing out #AllEyesOnShe as I RISE UP to say how cool this was to catch even more new faces because one more time, Talent is everywhere if you know what you’re looking at so let me give a special S/O to Michael Robertson for bringing in, hospitality was great and I truly enjoyed everything so after featuring Jillian Torres (DC Queens SA) Mia Thomas (Houston DC Queens) Alyssa Batton (CE Elite 2023) Aryanna Cleveland (SA Lady Hoops Green) and Jada West (SA Lady Hoops Platinum) on PGH TEXAS, let me drop even more before I drop the mic

ASHLEY CORPUS

Ashley Corpus (SA Nighthawks) 2021– saw her at a fall league game go completely off, immediately added her to Top 100 when I updated because she’s a scorer which means, she finds ways to put the ball into the basket either off the dribble or mid to long-range and watching her score in droves, that means a whole lot, at the event tells me she will do damage for someone at the next level

Shay Dede (SA Nighthawks) 2021-heading to Blinn with SWB, yes speed with the ball and under control, her first step is blazing and in the open court, most defenders should just try and get back, she’s that fast and her finishes are “Barnum and Bailey ” worthy at times, but she also sees the floor and hits teammates on the money

Zeta Jenkins (TWE) 2022– probably one of the most improved, underrated players over 6’0 in the state, she showed me that at the Girls Got Game Individual Showcase on Friday and solidified it during the event. Her improvement from last seasons TH Showcase, yes I’m plugging where I cover, had me smiling as the “hands and footwork” coupled with finishes were nice, so was her hitting the short jumpers, solid rebounder, and defender

Sarah Sheriff (TWE) 2023-Eric Clapton’s hit from the seventies plays in my head as I watch her make shots, she’s powerful and athletic, you will mot outwork her and her finishes are next-level ready right now. She also attacks and when you can put it on the floor and finish the way she does, not to leave out face the basket and score, well the rebounding on both ends and “on ball” defense are just solid extras

Samora Watson (Houston Queens Elite 17U) 2022– she just showed up and out, first of all, her energy level stays high, she plays the passing lane, and with her speed that usually leads to baskets going the other way, but she also uses that same speed to rebound and go to coast for lay-ups. What else you say, her attacking the rim from everywhere in the set and finishing is pretty darn good

Brandolyn Freeman (Houston Queens Elite 17U) 2022– she creates plenty of problems inside, she’s 6’2, long and athletic, I bet that grabbed your attention college coaches, well she grabs rebounds as well as has good timing to block, alter and deflect shots and she can score inside the paint with good hands and footwork, but her putbacks are very nice

Aaliyah Broussard (Houston Queens Elite 17U) 2022-very athletic guard that slides from the wing to score, this includes after contact but she also understands how to trap and how to force the trap, this is old school and all that’s required is desire and effort and her heat on the defensive end leads to points on the offensive end

EMERY ESPINOZA

Emery Espinoza (DC Queens SA) 2024-watching her go from basically a 3 point shooter last season to just an all-around scorer this season has been a pleasure for me. She tricked me by adding more muscle when I first saw her but after a 30 footer, I remembered but she’s creating her shot under pressure and her defense has turned up several notches

Noelani Ajel (DC Queens SA) 2024-this kid here, okay SWB again, with flair and her off-balance shots, especially after the lick at this stage tells me what’s coming down the road. Yeah she can create in the half-court under pressure, nice pull-up yet she also is showing the catch and shoot, both mid to long-range but alas, her upside is what defenders need to be concerned about, she ain’t done

Alysha Garcia (DC Queens SA) 2024– repeat after me “size don’t matter when you can play” and she definitely deserves the #sizedontmatter hashtag after coming up big in a crucial win. She plays the passing lane, very good BB-IQ which means what, the game starts at the one. That’s not what it means but I mean she can score, she dropped huge 3’s in clutch situations, she sees the floor and handles the ball under pressure and she defends

Reese Brittain (CE Elite 2023)– not only did she go off from BTA in the event, she did it in the championship and there’s nothing like being on the money under pressure but she creates her shot nicely, slight HEZ here, a little step-back there but the “in your face” drops just gets my adrenaline going. Love the way the “catch and shoot is coming” she is going to be hard to handle

Tyanna Simpson (CE Elite 2023)-another young lady that has taken her talent upwards but I saw it coming, that’s why I went and stay solo, as she was hurt at an event and told her mom “I’m going back in”, amazing what I remember but remember this, she’s working on her turnaround jumper on the block, she’s finishing after contact and she’s attacking from the wing, that combined with size and frame are all good, so is her rebounding

TRINITY BARRETTO

Trinity Barretto (San Antonio Lady Hoops Green) 2022-handling the ball under pressure is always a good thing, especially when you can still see the floor and make the right passes, she does that but she also understands how to create her shot either to take the defender off the dribble or shoot the jumper and she knocked shots down

Leilani Motta (San Antonio Lady Hoops Green) 2022-she crashed the boards with authority, I liked that a lot but guess what I loved, she played the passing lane over and over and for me, it’s the simple things that can turn games around, those 2 things right there play into the big picture, if you’re a novice evaluator, you won’t get it and let me add she also scored and defended

Kariel Martinez (San Antonio Lady Hoops Green) 2023– I’m going with two things, her frame, size, and upside, okay three things but they tie into where she is not which did some really positive things like finishing on both sides of the basket, rebounding on both ends of the court and running on both ends of the floor

Clara Arroyos (San Antonio Lady Hoops 17U Platinum) averaged double digits for the event yet that comes as no surprise as she understands how to create her shot and knock it down, with a hand in her face. She also can score off the dribble as well as see the floor and make the right pass to the right teammate

Macy Hein (San Antonio Lady Hoops 17U Platinum) did a solid job running the one and understood how to get the ball to the post, Jada West, who was virtually unstoppable. She’s heady, plays within herself, and doesn’t force anything plus she also showed she could score both attacking the basket and from outside

Sydney Dede (San Antonio Lady Hoops 17U Platinum) a missed opportunity of taking a picture of her and her older sister Shay, mentioned earlier has me scratching my head yet Sydney has me scratching my head regarding her “mental-toughness” as she always lays everything out on the line, she scores, averaged around double digits, plays tough defense and dives for loose balls

Anissa Mata (San Antonio Lady Hoops 17U Platinum) I enjoy watching her set the defender up for her shot, she does it in the flow and she’s pretty consistent mid to long-range but she also can attack and finish or attack and dish and her ballhandling under pressure in the open court is a valuable asset

Genesis McDonald (San Antonio Lady Hoops 17U Platinum) I didn’t listen to Phil Collins when he was with Genesis but I listen to Genesis directing traffic and she does it vocally or either with had gestures yet her poise at the one, she doesn’t get rattled and she loves setting teammates up for assists but she also loves to defend and applies a lot of pressure but don’t get it twisted, she also can score
