All Eyes On She-JV Division Tip Sheet
Plenty up and comers caught my eye in this division, Niyah Waters (Competitive Edge) and Sadie Sanchez (Hoops 10) will be added to PGH Texas 2025 Watch List, while Noelle Raggio (Austin Elite Fire) showed she was one of the best shooters in the event, Danielle Porter (Houston Queens 16U) and Zanyra Adams (SA Lady Hoops Gray) showed they were on the verge of being hashtagged #BEAST as all were featured in my PGH Standouts article for this division but here are some others
Julissa Weeks (KC Ballers) played on multiple teams and the outcome was the same, she is a battler, she goes after rebounds on both ends of the court and she showed that she could score multiple ways including the pull-up jumper as well as off the dribble attacking the basket
Kelly Ufodiama (Austin Elite Fire) I don’t know if it was the sheer athleticism she showed on both ends of the court or the long first step she has attacking the basket that caught my eye first, it could’ve been her playing the passing lane but I know her upside is scary
Janyiyah Alvarez (Austin Elite Fire) long and athletic is the base, that I use and what you add to that are pluses so she’s not where she will be which has me beaming because she’s on the verge of breaking out. She finishes after contact, rebounds, and runs the floor
Nikole Essig (Austin Elite Fire) how about she sees the floor going full speed and makes pinpoint passes or she can dish while attacking or keep it and finish after contact. All of that definitely caught my eye but her playing the passing lane just did it
Azaela Alaniz (Hoop 10 United) scores multiple ways yet plays within herself. She does a good job creating her shot for the mid to long-range and she was one of many good players on this squad
Kiara Perry (San Antonio Lady Hoops Gray) mixed up her offense nicely, showed she could knock down both the mid and long-range down as well as attack off the dribble and finish
Tyra Sotello (San Antonio Lady Hoops Gray-I’ve watched her progression and she always showed she was ready, she has even played in pain and was willing to fill in the blanks yet she was filling up the basket almost every way imaginable. The pull-up jumper, the stop, and pop and pop jumper, or even the step-back jumper, all were clicking as well as her finishing off the dribble with either hand
Jazmine Hansley (Houston Queens Elite 16U) SWB is my acronym for “speed with ball” and watching her take off pushing the ball under control was a treat yet the treats were even better as she saw the floor and hit her teammates n the money
Natalie Kahura (Houston Queens Elite 16U) creates her shot nicely under pressure and can score either by attacking the basket with a deceptive first step, she finishes after contact or knocking down the mid to long-range jumper
Jewel Brandley (Houston Queens Elite 16U) goes after everything off the rim, she’s strong, she’s athletic and you won’t outwork her as she also dives for loose balls, in the stands, on the floor, wherever and continues to finish multiple ways
Laila Williams (Houston Queens Elite 16U) love her court vision as well as her “playing within herself” and understanding how to get hers in the flow but her defense and heady play all both caught my eye
Jazmine Gaston (Competitive Edge Black) long and athletic and her upside is very high because of a few things starting with her mindset, she gets it and she comprehends the little things but she also is a fierce rebounder and defender that showed she could score off the dribble and finish strongly
Iyanna Billups (Competitive Edge Black) I told her when she gets the floater down, she’s going to be hard to handle because she has SWB, she has range and she can create her shot and handle the ball under pressure. Passes are crisp, she goes all out defensively and the progression from last season is noted
Ivy Powell (Competitive Edge Black) long and athletic is one thing, playing the passing lane is another so that, combined with acrobatic finishes tells me what’s coming with this young lady as she continues to just bring it up
