Big Dogs bark just as strong as bite

The Lady Big Dogs gave me yet another look at a variety of players that have the potential to be playing college ball somewhere based on what I saw at the College Prep Challenge. Maci Forsythe, Erin Sanchez, Kyana Dillingham and Destyni Clark are all from the 2016 class while Krystal Okeye is from the 2015 group and these young ladies were the regular members on the squad that won the Grand Championship of the 9/10 grade. Forsythe showed she could be a capable scorer while Sanchez and Dillingham’s athleticism contributed to the heat the team brought on defense. On day one, Clark and Okeye were my early favorites for the tip sheet simply because of their throwback mentality under the basket because you simply were not going to outwork them and that trait is something you just can’t teach.

You also can’t teach much of what the youngstas on the squad have as Talea Smith (2017), Alycia Shufford (2018), Gabby Standifer (2018), Kennedy Taylor(2018) and Sarah Andrews (2020) all showed that they are not only in the ballpark, there in the game as well and their progression will determine just how high they go in the next level. In this tournament, they moved up to help the shorthanded older club yet they slid in nicely and contributed to their team’s success. Shufford and Smith were both hard to handle at times, as well as Standifer whose length and height proved to be quite valuable. Taylor made the tip sheet simply because of a couple of things she did that blew me away and although I don’t really look at numbers a lot, I look at what players do in certain situations and a couple of no looks through traffic along with a turbo charger attached to her as she exploded to the basket sold me. With all that being said, I expect Andrews to put up plenty numbers along the way, she’s one of the top players I’ve seen in her class and her BB- IQ is already that of many varsity players, well that can be said for all of these talented young players
