Cy Fair Ogwumike offers new look
BROOKE MCCARTY
Cy Fair Ogwumike held off a tough Duncanville team to win Team Ichiban’s 3rd Coast Memorial Weekend Showdown as they showed a new look. Ariel Atkins and Tasia Foman were playing with their Duncanville High School team while Nancy Mulkey was at USA trials. Artavia Ford left the team and moved to Texas Preps Elite however with all of the changes, one of the top teams continued to get the job done. New additions Deauzya Richard and Maloree Schurr filled in nicely and as I stated earlier this season when you have a club that has multiple players who can knock down the three, anything can happen. Brooke McCarty simply has lived up to “The Chosen One” name I gave her when she was around nine; her ability to run a team and take over when needed is second to none. Kennedy Leonard hasn’t been thrown into the national spotlight that much, hopefully my placing her on the Full Court Tip Sheet helps because she is definitely one of the Top 2015 players in the state and when you look at it, the country as well.
How about Nicole Iademarco just doing whatever is needed and at 6’1 her ability to stretch the defense has been a pleasant surprise, well to those who didn’t what she was capable of. The Ogwumkie sisters, Olivia and Erica, have simply taken their games to a different stratosphere which is going to parlay over to school season when they team up with Mulkey as my early R3 favorite. Schurr was a valuable asset after moving up from their Platinum team as she’s yet another six footer that can drain the long one. More than anything, the babies played huge and Chasity Patterson and Deauzya Richards relish being in the spotlight on center stage. These young ladies are fearless and don’t realize they are not supposed to be doing what they are doing against their competition, which is a good thing because once you start thinking too much, that’s where the problem starts but with that being said, they are going to be creating problems for many years and they great part about is I called it
