Texas Preps Elite 2017 adds more to watch at DSS
Add Texas Preps Elite 2017 squad as a team with some young ladies who will not only go on to play at the next level but will have an immediate impact for their high school programs. Playing without two key players, Jasmine Jeffcoat and Kayla Barber, this young team managed to make it to the finals of the 9th/10th grade division of the Dallas Spring Shootout hosted my PrimeTime Sports. They came in second place against another 2017 team, that story coming later but I was impressed with what I saw from TPE. Several players could have been picked from this team for the tip sheet but I’ll choose Rebecca Lescay this time around and of course you’ll get that rundown later today. Jordan Hamilton is a guard that does several things I love to see like attack the basket and finish, which is easy because she can also handle the ball. She anticipates well and also defends and showed she could shoot the long ball. Sydney Keller can do most of the same things as Hamilton along with extreme quickness off the dribble. Yoselin Maldonado is strong and finishes stronger, not to mention showing signs of being a beast in the paint. I enjoyed watching Jalise Smallwood show me a variety of weapons on both days, add her to the list of young player that read the defenses well and even more importantly that her getting easy steals for baskets due to effort by anticipating, the young lady can hit the midrange well. Ma’K’La Woods was also one of my choices for the tip sheet because of not only what she does now, her athleticism and length give this young lady unlimited upside so her destiny on how high she goes is in her hands. With the being said, the way she elevates, I’m thinking she will have several options once it’s all said and done but so will the others if they continue to progress like I think they will
