Who’s gonna go in Region 4?
MACKENZIE CALVERT
I’ve seen Johnson before losing Recee Caldwell, Wagner either looking very impressive or just good and also Cibolo Steele and out of the three, Steele appears to have edge even though I’ve yet to see Reagan or Jay. As impressive as Johnson looked in the Fort Bend Tournament with Caldwell, they have lost to Reagan, Wagner and Steele by at least 20 points in each game. Wagner made a good showing in the Peggy Whitley Classic putting on a ferocious comeback against Clear Springs in the championship game however a first round loss to Har-Ber combined with Steele’s impressive victory over Legacy, without Kyra Lambert, has me leaning towards the Lady Knights.
Much of that has to do with Mackenzie Calvert, the junior who committed to Baylor in middle school and after being known primarily for her defense, her offense is right there with the top guards in the state. In game, I tweeted Calvert is going completely off and on a day when numerous players did just, hers was by far one of the impressive. I remember a fan asking me if she was legit, back to back threes falling out of bounds answered that question. I was also impressed with quite a few other players on the team, notably Sara Rodriguez and Jade Brady as well as Erika Chapman and Bri Millett, not to mention others. Add that formula together with Lambert and who knows
