GPR Area Preseason Top 10 plus one
ERICA & OLIVIA OGWUMIKE
Okay I always throw together a preseason list of teams that I feel will be in the hunt and I must admit this one will be tough however without knowing who is where since many teams still don’t use Max Preps to put their rosters up, along with move-ins I’m still hearing about, this list will probably change numerous times. The safe bet is that the top three teams are Manvel, Clear Springs and Dekaney and after that you probably have at least 10-15 teams you could rotate in and out of those next seven spots. Here’s my stab at it and it’s free!!!!
1.Manvel–Brianna Turner and Jordan Hosey would have them in the hunt by themselves but with a new philosophy and new players, this might be the season
2.Clear Springs–“The Chosen One” will get another shot at leading her teammates out of here however with Latham, Roher and Lira all seniors, this may be the last shot
3.Dekaney-Not many teams that lost this much would be able to come back however Dekaney still has at least four D1 players
4.North Shore-The Mustangs always find ways to regroup, they were tough before Flores and then Williams and once again they wil make some noise
5.Pearland-This team is young and hungry and with three players at least 6’0 and a 5’10 that plays like she is, not to mention a point guard that turned it up several notches over the summer, somebody say sleeper
6.Cy Ranch-They have firepower coming from everywhere including four of the top long ball shooters in the city
7.Bellaire-Since the turn of the century, this team has stayed among the top teams in the area. As “The Real Deal” closes out a brilliant career, several teammates are ready for starring roles
8.Seven Lakes–The duo of Inman and Buchel careers will come to an end but both are hungry and they too have several players ready to step up
9.Cy Woods-Yes they were hit very hard from 2012 players moving on however they still have the Ogwumike sisters not to mention the 6’8 player I’m hearing a lot of good things about
10.The Woodlands-Lang is out to prove she can carry a squad and from what I saw from her over the summer, it is quite possible she can
11.Klein Forest-Anorther sleeper as their “Big Three” now form a “Fantastic Five” of next level players
Three games tonight involve six of my picks
Cy Ranch @ Seven Lakes
North Shore @ The Woodlands
Clear Springs @ Dekaney
