TJ helps lead HBU to victory
Tayler “TJ” Jefferson was one of those players that just had something special about her at an early age. The first time I saw her play I believe she was around 9 or 10 and she towered over most of the young ladies her age. The thing that impressed me more than anything was her “Basketball IQ” at an early age more than anything else because when you’re that young and you understand the concept, you are way ahead of the curve. As the years went on, most of those same players Jefferson was taller than outgrew her but she remained to be in the mix as far as one of the area’s top talents for her class. At North Shore, she was a three year starter on one of the of the top teams in the city and when the colleges came to call, she decided staying close was best for her so HBU was a perfect fit.
Although she started for the Huskies as a freshman, last season was a learning experience for TJ but I always tell people it’s an adjustment process for everyone and she finished strong last season. Last night she started against A&M Kingsville and had a couple of early turnovers which found her sitting for a couple a minutes however to say she was flawless the rest of the game would be putting it mildly and as I put said on Twitter last night, you might want to follow me, “Jefferson is going completely off”
With 16 first half points, she could do no wrong after reentering the game and she helped lead the Huskies to an impressive victory.
