Top Performers 9th Grade Division #AllEyesOnShe
I covered teams who sent in rosters, it’s hard enough evaluating as many teams as I do so the time I waste finding out a player’s name is time missed on seeing something, well to me that’s common sense yet sometimes I feel like I’m in a world by myself yet occasionally I’ll see a player, like Hoop Shop’s ’29 Jaiyeola Oladipo, so I dropped her on Prep Girls Hoops, huge upside
Here are some of the players that stood out in the division that teams sent in what I needed, here ya go
Bristol Jensen (LH Swoosh) 2029 is a heady PG with a very bright future. I watch mannerisms, especially when players are running the 1 and playing up yet she handles pressure very well, has good court vision, and makes the right decisions. She scored off the dribble, as well as from outside but her “catch and shoot” is ahead of her years, oh yeah, she played the passing lane and all of that got her on the cover
Nadia Camarena (LH Swoosh) scored from multiple angles off the dribble while showing nice body control on her finishes, after contact. She also does a good job creating her shot under pressure and knocking it down while being defended
Maisee Macgibbon (LH Swoosh) 2029 will probably be over “the magic number” which is 6’0 and is “long and athletic” and that combination in itself will get the magic started for the next level. She hits the boards and runs the floor, on both ends, her defense was solid and so was her timing
Issis Sanchez (DJBA Betas) understands how to use her body inside the paint, on both ends and when you factor in how she battles for everything off the rim, that’s huge. She does a good job defensively yet watching her take the defender off the dribble down the baseline to score was nice
Gabriela Jaramillo (DJBA Betas) also used her frame inside the paint on both ends. I love seeing young players go AFTA everything because DESIRE is something you can’t teach. She scored around the basket, putbacks included. She scored off the dribble, played solid defense, and played the passing lane
Chloe Trevino (DJBA Betas) dove on the floor and grabbed my attention immediately and that, along with her “on the ball” defense and playing the passing lane are all things that can change the momentum but she also created her shot to drop the jumper or score off the dribble
Arianna Vincent (AE Rock Gold) was another young player who showed she could control the inside and her “hands and footwork” were very nice, yet so was her turnaround jumper on the block. She even showed me the BANKER multiple times but her rebounding strongly on both ends and defense was also a plus
Haedyn Cooper (AE Rock Gold) played within herself meaning nothing out of the ordinary and stayed under control. She also showed she could get hers “in the flow ” and her patiently setting the defender up using a deceptive first step helped her score or dish off the dribble but she saw the floor in the set as well
Layla Delgado (DC Queens SA) caught my eye off the top with her “on the ball” pressure baseline to baseline because that helped to create turnovers. She also played the passing lane, saw the floor in the set, and in transition, she scored off the dribble proving again that #sizedontmatter when you can play
Minnie Sue (DC Queens SA) showed me the FLOTA in traffic which had me drop the “mic” well my clipboard. She does a good job getting the defender off-balance to go by them, nice body control on her finishes plus she brought heat defensively and played the passing lane
