2017 Richards Plays For And Brings The Heat

Cy Fair Heat Richards

If ever it was a time where the phrase “your name preceded you” was being used, this would definitely be one of them. I heard about a Deauzya Richards last season from a few people and of course I’ve heard stories like this before. Sometimes people see players doing things against their peers and of course they might be a little more advanced than the others, therefore they may appear a lot better than they really are or the phrase I often use “it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against”. The first time I saw Richards, she was simply dominant on the court and I was observing this star of tomorrow from the 2017 class and I simply left the gym in awe, she was playing in the high school division for the Cy Fair Heat. I only saw her for about five minutes that initial time however simple math of ninth/tenth graders minus seventh grader equals special player. How special will she be? I have no idea but let me go ahead right now and say this. I saw A.J Alix, Brooke McCarty, Recee Caldwell and Courtney Williams around the same time or younger in their careers and I said they would be special which equates to big time players who will have more than their fair share of colleges knocking on their doors not to mention in line for numerous awards once it is all said and done in high school. Watching Richards this weekend sort of made me reminisce when my daughter was around her age as I saw quite a few similarities going beyond the slender frame and ponytail. Her knowledge of the game is so far ahead of the pack and she simply terrorizes opponents playing at the top of the press while gliding in for lay-ups after steals. To say she’ll be a Top 100 player is simply an understatement and it shouldn’t take a guru to see that
