2022 Summer Slam Day All-Defensive Team
Allison Reece (Houston United 832) 2023 her on the ball (OTB) creates problems because it helps force turnovers which lead to baskets going the other way however she also can score off the dribble, acrobatic finishes are common and has a nice jumper
Imry Shrout-Jordan (Just Play Elite 17U Gold) 2023– one of the toughest defenders each time I see her and she accepts the challenge no matter how big the person is she’s guarding. She’s strong, has nice lateral movement and understands positioning to out-rebound taller players but she also has a nice jumper
Cpeeritt Plummer (Austin Elite RFW) 2023– strong inside the paint, goes after everything, including loose balls on the floor yet she also has good timing to block shots and scores nicely around the basket as well as on putbacks, yes after contact
Ja’Niya Thomas (Houston Lady Roadrunners) 2023– #THROWBACK for the heat she showed off the top as her defense was SMOTHERING but that pressure comes from her being long and athletic with quick hands and feet, plus she plays the passing lane, scores off the dribble and from outside
Khloe Vaughn (Houston United 17U Chuck) 2024– solid defender that can apply pressure baseline to baseline yet she doesn’t reach, times whomever she’s guarding dribble, and uses quick hands to come away with steals. Nice court vision, scores with the jumper as well as attacking the basket
Glenda Hawk (IJU 17U) 2025– perfect last name because she is like a HAWK on defense, that’s a #THROWBACK phrase from my era, they call it something else now yet it fits perfectly, and her ability to take charges, she reads the play, battle for rebounds, dives on the floor, in the stands wherever and can finish with players literally hanging on he
