2022 Houston Summer Slam HS Open Tip Sheet
I always appreciate those who send in rosters and let me OVERemphasize one more time the importance of non-erroneous information matters for the vast amount of players so based on what I had, here you go
Bianca Barba (BDA) court vision was a huge plus as she distributed the ball well in the set and hit teammates on the money in transition but she also scored both off the dribble and from outside
Samirah Guinn (Houston Dream Blue) 2025 I love her upside, she’s long and athletic and filled with energy but her timing on defense always stands out as she blocks shots and plays the passing lane but her attacking and finishing are also impressive
Jazel King (Houston Dream Blue) 2024 I hashtagged #sizedontmatter with an amendment “when you can play” and watching her create her shot and drop it from both mid to long-range was nice and then she dropped it even deeper. Quick-release was also nice
Renata Martinez (Houston United 2025) has scary upside starting with what she adds to “long and athletic” because she scores off the dribble as well as created her shot and when you factor in she defends, rebounds, and plays the passing lane, stay tuned
Kameryn Howard (Houston United 2025) athletic guard that applies heat on the defensive end and watching her defend baseline to baseline “on the ball” pressure was as impressive as her scoring off the dribble and finishing after contact
Peyton Willaims (KAT 1) long and athletic will always be the base, at least for me, and watching her score countless times on putbacks, many times after contact was nice, and so was her scoring off the dribble but she rebounded on both ends and did a good job defending
Kenley Benson (KAT 1) is heady, plays within herself, and understands how to “get hers in the flow” which are all huge pluses but she understands how to create her shot, under pressure to score both off the dribble and from outside
Kobe Johnson (IJU 14U) 2026– her roof has no ceiling is how I describe players with unlimited potential, starting off with her college-ready frame entering high school, her being long and athletic and can score from outside as well as off the dribble, well on putbacks, she rebounds on both ends and plays the passing lane
Garlynn Grant (IJU 14U) 2026– athletic guard with quick hands and THAT is a huge plus because she defends, on the ball, and creates turnovers or helps to set up turnovers but she also scores off the dribble nicely
Dazlyn McClenon (IJU 14U) 2026– I tweeted about her DAZZLING performance but she shows me something different every time I catch her and with her body control and highlight finishes, after contact, that JUST DOES IT for me right there but she can drop the jumper, rebounds, defends and plays the passing lane
Laneya Chatman (Houston United Madison 2025) long and athletic, see above. listen not only do I love to profile that with the intangibles, but so do college coaches and when you add, “plays the passing lane” as well as can drop the “pull-up jumper” as she can, but that’s also heading in the right direction
Ava LeBlanc (Houston United Madison 2025) had quick hands again as she did a good job coming away with steals but her “on the ball” pressure was smothering at times. Yes, I got a kick out of her “playing the passing lane” but the kick was even harder when she showed she could drop it from deep
Taylor Lee (Houston United Madison 2025) she’s from Louisiana (University HS) in Baton Rouge which explains why I hadn’t seen her but I saw enough after watching her first step as well as her creating her shot for the jumper. She too is “long and athletic” and she too “plays the passing lane”
