Hybrid and Houstonians Loaded With Youth

HYBRID-COLLINS

One thing I can honestly say about Texas basketball is that the talent keeps coming year after year but the really impressive thing is to see so many of the younger players that may not be labeled “can’t miss” right now but they aren’t far off. Hybrid Hoops and the Houstonians have several of those can’t misses right now even though they’ve yet to play a middle school game. I’m talking about fifth and sixth graders that have the ability of some pretty good seventh graders right now but as always the key component is progression and I love watch the young ladies improve. D’Asia Collins has been on the circuit for what seems like a lifetime already even though she’s one of those players that impressed me as a third grader and even though we lost track due her hectic schedule which now included soccer, the improvement and more importantly basketball IQ has just gone to another level.

 Hybrid- Charli Collier

Speaking of another level, remember the name of another 2018 player, Charli Collier. Standing at a little over 6’0 while only in the sixth grade right now, this young lady has post moves that would make her an asset on several high school varsity teams right now, no hype, just keeping it real. When you talk about 6’0 players in the sixth grade, Monet Jones of the Houstonians sort of reminds me of a younger Courtney Williams, I’ll use Courtney since most people can’t go back further that right now but she may turn out to be another who can play all five positions. Both programs gave a glimpse of what’s coming and although I named three, several more will be on the GPR Middle School Watch List
