Cummings Keeps It Going In Huge Win

I often talk about players who impressed me at an early age and the countless times I’ve used Keely Cummings initials stating she is going to bring the SUNSHINE has again come to pass as she has helped her LaPorte team to a division tie after an impressive 56-48 win over TABC State Ranked #5 Manvel, scoring 18 points, on the road at that, yet let me back things up to my initial sighting of this young lady in the 3rd grade. I’m watching her do the “spider drill” and I stop and ask her “can you play” and she looked at me an\d responded “come and see” so I did and the first play of the game she attacked the basket, used a crossover and scored, next play down she threw a no-look for an assist and the play after that, she dropped a step-back 3, turned at stared at me

The step back is one of her many go-to moves as she was recently featured on KHOU Houston Inside High School Sports so it’s good to see her getting some well-deserved recognition after making a huge comeback, as well as impact after an injury as she’s leading her team in multiple categories including scoring and assists and has the Bulldogs, have not only one of their best seasons but are getting ready to make a run after district as the playoffs are right around the corner yet her ability to control her team, handle the ball under pressure and make the right decisions continue to prove that the game starts at the 1 and she’s truly one of my all-time favorites because when a 3rd grader tells you to come and see and you never stop watching, well …..
