The Prolific #TP3 GOC 8th Grade
For those of you that don’t know and choose to absorb information from those who mislead, I started talking about Texas and the surrounding states having just as much talent as the NATIONAL evaluators used to always mention and I’m not as mellow as I am now and ruffled quite a few feathers which was fine because I’m not chicken and I used those same feathers for pillows of talented players who have gone on to play at the next level. AAU Nationals, 2003 I believe had Air Oklahoma stars Earnesia Williams (Texas) and Daniel Gant (Texas A&M) against Fairfax Stars Marissa Coleman (Maryland) in one of the best games I ever saw in person. Williams and Coleman were MDAA’s all played professionally, Coleman (WNBA) so right then and there, I started using that slogan I used to see on the license plates traveling as a kid,, Oklahoma is OK
I caught the GOC 8th grade squad a few weeks ago on my trip to McAlester, along with their other squads and like the 7th graders that participated, I caught, even more, this time. With so much potential from several players, Macey Bain can control the inside. Paige Igou. Hannah Cox, and Slatey Jo, all have solid upside, Aliyah Daniels is heady and did a good job seeing the floor, Kaytee Hood can score off the dribble as well as see the floor while attacking and in the set yet Yonariya Nichols set the tone as she understands positioning, did a good job of not only rebounding but finishing, this includes putbacks
All bets are off on Ti’Heiress Davis who impressed me last season at an event but her desire is what keeps grabbing me. She battles for rebounds, on both ends, she dives on the floor, she plays the passing lane and she can score whether it’s on putbacks or moves inside the paint or taking defenders off the dribble yet her jumper gives her options and helps keep the defense guessing but guess what else, Jaylee Branscum also scored multiple ways and watching her create her shot to attack the basket or drop the jumper, the pull-up is nice and her range is mid to long, all were nice. As I stated initially, the potential throughout the team is just nice across the board and you won’t be bored watching the intensity on both ends from Cambree Bair, Kinley Johnson, and Jayla King
