Jennifer Nash

All in the Family

Just looking at Jennifer Nash off the court, you see an innocent, mild mannered young lady. On the court, she can be a silent assassin and one of the kids I call “members of the bomb squad” which means she can light you up from anywhere on the court. Let me back up a minute before I go into this future Nicholls State player’s accomplishments.

Her parents Bill and Debbie met in college and both played basketball for the University of Calgary. Debbie coached college basketball for 4 years after graduation 1989-1993.

Both Bill and Debbie coached their children in their early years of playing. Older brother Carter is a graduate of Cy Woods,  the school Jennifer also attends, and is a freshman at UT Dallas. Carter will also play basketball for UT Dallas this season.

Younger brother Andrew has a disability called Christianson syndrome, a debilitating syndrome that will eventually take his life. He received a Special Olympian bronze medalist in horseback riding this past year.

Jennifer started playing ball at age 5 and by age 9, she was playing competitive club ball each summer, this past season with Alodia. She is a four year varsity player and has made All District each season, along with All Region last season and to top that off she was named team MVP.

I asked Alodia director Norman Schippers his thoughts on Nash. “Jenny is a tremendous competitor and a knock down shooter with great length to defend multiple positions. She is a great girl with a very supportive family that always carried out the values of the Alodia Eclipse program. We wish her the best of success on and off the court for her senior year and in the future at Nicholls State University. “
