Alamo City Hoops I-35 HS Showdown 2024 Top Performers

TAJANAE GOODEN

Abby Smith-5’11 (Boerne) continues to elevate her game as well as elevating on her jumper and her mid to long-range pullup creates problems for defenders yet that old saying “college coaches love big guards that can shoot” and she definitely can drop it yet off the dribble, she’s also a threat

Averi Aaron-6’1 (Boerne) good hands and footwork will always get #THROWBACK because I love to drop that hashtag just like she drops buckets almost effortlessly around the basket yet her mobility for her size enables her to defend outside the paint as well as score facing the basket, she also rebounds well

Tajanae Gooden-5’10 (Duncanville) is one of those players that was just ahead of the pack early and based on what she showed, she ain’t backing down yet I wouldn’t expect anything less. She has a college-ready body, she attacks and finishes after contact and her pull-up jumper is definitely a “go-to” move

Kendall Robinson-5’8 (Duncanville) is another player that was just really really good as a baby yet she has come back from an injury that you wouldn’t know had happened because she’s so strong and when she elevates on her jumper, she’s usually over the defender yet she knocks it down with a hand in her face. Powerful moves off the dribble, solid defender

Mimi Willis-5’7 (LaVega) long and athletic, creates some problems defensively because she understands how to play “on the ball” baseline to baseline as well as trap but her playing the passing lane, attacking with either hand from the rim or just keeping the defender honest by dropping outside shots are all very nice

Kiyleyah Parr-5’5 (LaVega) is one of the most explosive guards off the dribble and that first step sets everything else up as she can attack, finish with contact or attack and dish yet she also can score mid to long-range, sees the floor well, and plays solid defense

Emery Espinoza-5’5 (Easy Central) one of the top long ball shooters in her class yet keeps adding more to her toolbox so handling the ball under pressure and making solid passes in the open court were nice, so was her midrange shooting not to leave out attacking and finishing with either hand

Miranda Garcia-5’4 (McCollum) let me drop another hashtag #sizedontmatter when you can play and her court vision was among the best at the event, all classes as she threaded the needle numerous times for assists but she also creates her shot and drops the pull-up

Mia Hammonds-6’2 (Steele) long and athletic is the base, not only with me but it’s a profile for the next level and watching her do 2 things, take the defender off the dribble as well as play the passing lane, well handling the ball after is 3 things spoke volumes yet her height turns it up even more

Noelani Ajel (Steele) had one of the “Moves Of The Day” at the event yet that doesn’t surprise me as she understands how to put the ball in the basket multiple ways. The pull-up jumper, mid to long-range as well as taking the defender with a deceptive first step just keeps getting better
