Alamo City Hoops I-35 HS Showdown 2023 Top Performers
Talent galore all over the place from this class, many showing progression as well as those who are new to me so here ya go
Gisella Maul- 5’10 (Cedar Park) as good as she was when I saw her in the 6th grade and said she was a #D1Lock, she has elevated her game every year, and what I loved even more than her pull-up jumper or scoring off the dribble was she poise and mental toughness which is next-level ready right now
Molly Ly- 5’5 (Cedar Park) the pull-up jumper, the stop, and pop jumper, the quick release, the unique way she finds ways to not only score but create havoc that leads to turnovers on the defensive end will all play a huge role in their journey to REPEAT as State Champions
Blythe Troke-6’3 (Austin Bowie) good hands and footwork are always nice, especially with her size yet her agility on defense to create issues like block, alter or deflect shots was nice, so was her rebounding and finishes around the rim
Maci Quillen-5’10 (Hendrickson) long and athletic will always be the base yet she attacked the rim strongly from multiple ways to finish and showed that short jumper with a hand in her face. Defense and rebounding were both solid
Jade Clack-6’1 (Austin ) attacked the rim relentlessly and finished after the lick but her handing the ball in the open court after rebounding to score as well as see the floor was also nicely done
Shanel Reid-5’10 (Austin ) smooth as silk with the pull-up just keeps getting better because she creates her shot so well to drop it while being defended yet her coming off the pick to drop was nice too, not to leave out her powerful finishes
Jamie Reude-5’4 (Boerne) heady PG that can score sums everything up yet I love her court vision just as much as her dropping the long ball and since she handles the ball with ease under pressure, that’s another huge plus
Ese Ogbevire-5’7 (Fulshear) her explosiveness off the dribble is among the best in not only her class but the state and let me add “she does it under control” so her acrobatic finishes or that jumper is hard to handle when you throw in the heat she brings defensively…
Aysia Proctor-5’9 (Samuel Clemens) just does it and that means whatever it takes because she can score at will on anyone, off the dribble or the jumper yet watching her elevate on her jumper is a work of art and the masterpiece she has created is hard to handle
Asia Prudhomme-5’9 (East Central) powerful off the dribble as well as on the boards yet she literally scores with players hanging on her at times, that’s how strong she is yet her soft touch facing the bakset is also one of her “go-to”
Victoria Flores-5’7 (Duncanville) her ability to score is second to none, yeah she attacks with either hand and finishes with either but that jumper has always been a threat for defenders to try and stop and I’m talking mid to long-range
Tristen Taylor-5’6 (Duncanville) is one of the fastest players in the state, with the ball, as well as under control and her body control enables her to score and, or, assist off the dribble yet she understands how to run a team and get her teammates involved, the jumper is solid too
Nicole Wallace (MacArthur) long and athletic, you know what that means but watching her handle the ball and make the right pass to the right person was nice, so was her first step yet she sees the court the length of the floor and threading the needle was very nice, she also blocked some shots
Jade Hillary (South San) her pull-up jumper was one of the best at the event but she also attacked strongly and finished after contact but she was also one of the top passers and made some tough ones look easy for assists
Annalia Cuellar-5’6 (Stevens) is one of the top long ball shooters in her class, well maybe the state but she’s more than a 3 point shooter, and watching her score off the dribble as well as seeing the floor, transition included, was nice
Syona Mandyam-5’9 (Westlake) creates her shot effortlessly and naturally and watching her let it go is very nice but her ability to find ways to put the ball in the basket is also good as she can attack and finish as well as score off the offensive rebound
Peyton Friermuth-5’8 (Westlake) heady PG that makes those around her better is the short answer yet she also can drop the jumper, mid to long-range, and score off the dribble, but those passes are smooth and on the money
Aliyah Carter-5’7 (Hendrickson) her explosiveness with the ball has always impressed me and it’s hard to stay with her, especially in the open court yet multiple gears are under control and she threads the needle nicely. Nice outside shot, scores off the dribble yet her defense is smothering and creates turnovers
