2021 TJ Showcase- Rosewood Division Tip Sheet
TALENT IS EVERYWHERE and it was some HEAT in that Rosewood Division
2022
Niah Williams-6’4 C (Journey Black) Georgetown HS-when you observe her agility on the court, her length, and her ease at finishing as well as blocking shots, you all see solid next-level upside
Sam Folsom 5’2 PG (Journey Black) Georgetown HS-heady ballplayer, handles the ball under pressure and does a good job seeing the floor yet she can also score off the dribble or make the pass
Jennabelle Gonzales-5’0 CG (DC Queens San Antonio)-another one of the best individual shooting performances came from this young lady who was just unconscious as she knocked the long ball down effortlessly and consistently
Tianna Murray-5’5 G (Houston Dream Red) Katy Pateow HS-athletic guard with long arms, that’s also the base and that first step rounds many of them fast, yes I interacted baseball yet she has hit several home runs because she finishes acrobatically, has a nice stop and pop and plays the passing lane
Yvonne Foreman-5’9 PF (Houston Elite) Kashmere HS-she overpowers players in the paint and what I mean is she literally scores with them hanging on her or she uses her body for positioning to score yet she also uses it to outrebound taller players and she defends
Jordan Skaggs-5’11 PF (Houston Skyrise Stars) Dawson HS-still playing the passing lane I see, well I saw that pre-high school yet she does everything smoothly and within the flow of course she can score off the dribble and the short jumper plus her rebounding on both ends is a plus
Jocelyn Coleman-5’5 PG (Houston Skyrise Stars) Grace Christian Academy -I have so many stars and stripes that I don’t even know what they mean other than she’s athletic, she attacks and finishes after contact and she too plays that passing lane
Zaria Simmons-5’9 SF (Houston United 2022 Black) been watching Bobby coach forever and he always gets the most out of his players so watching their improvement makes me smile so Simmons is one of those “you won’t outwork me” types that attacks and finishes as well as rebounds and score off putbacks but she also defends
Destiny Boone–5’10 PF (SA Infinity Black) Clemens HS-finishing with authority is a nice way to put it but her power on both ends just grabbed me as she also sent a message rebounding as well as defending yet she does a good job at seeing the floor, reacts well on switches and fives on the floor, her HS coach was a BEAST btw
Anissa Mata (San Antonio Lady Hoops Platinum)-creates her shot so well, I enjoy watching her glide and hang to score off the dribble yet she also can drop it mid to long-range, she sees the floor and she too plays the passing lane
Mariah Dotson (SA Lady Hoops Black) that quick release was in full display when I caught her and I enjoy seeing how she sets the defender up to attack yet she also can shoot it being tightly guarded with a hand in her face and B2B2B threes set it off
Mercedes Perez (SA Lady Hoops Black) no-look, backhand, behind the back or just basic or some of the passes she shows but I love her peripheral vision, GOOGLE IT because THAT is something you can’t teach, not her ability to find ways to put the ball in the basket
Ashlee Seymore-6’1 F (Texas Lady Breakers Gold) does a good job not only rebounding but igniting the break on one end and scoring on putbacks on the other yet she runs the floor either way, well both ways and her agility enables her to defend inside and outside the paint
2023
Jordyn Barrera-5’11 G (CE Elite 2023) Connally HS– Barrera with a barrage of 3 pointers made me smile because she came out the gate on Saturday dropping and was still smoking on Sunday. She’s a big guard that showed she can shoot, I love that, more importantly, college coaches do too
Keslyn Davis (Austin Elite Ice) LaGrange HS-that pull-up jumper was nice all weekend, yeah she does a good job creating it under pressure and either takes it or attacks the rim but she also can do it in transition with the stop and pop, mid to long-range is nice
Brooke Odom-5’7 F (CE Elite 2023) McNeil HS-another long ball threat in the organization, there are plenty and how many did she drop, well plenty because it seemed every time I looked up, the ball was coming down through the nets but she also knocks that midrange down well
Keely Cummings-5’7 PG (Houston Skyrise 16U 3SSB) LaPorte HS-heady PG that loves pressure, she wants the shot down the stretch, has nailed several game winners with the three-ball at the buzzer, in front of me yet she controls the tempo very well, her composure never changes and one more time, she understands something that you can’t teach and that’s “how to create contact”
Mikalah Buckley (Austin Elite Ice) Hendrickson HS– her first step gets the ball rolling because she can just blow by defenders at the drop of a dime, she sees the floor well so she drops dimes that way also but her attacking and finishing with contact or attacking and dishing was among the best at the event
Lyric Barr (Principles First Select Red) love her progression since that initial sighting and she’s scoring inside with either hand using good hands and footwork, she’s scoring off putbacks and she’s scoring facing the basket and attacking yet her rebounding and defending have all taken a shot up
Jasmine Green (Principles First Select Red) just punishes opposing players, either for the rebound, on either end or trying to contain her defensively, and her strong body and equally strong finishes
2024
Kyndall Drones-6’0 C (Houston Elite) Shadow Creek-understands how to use her body on the inside could sum it up yet let me add something else as she also rebounds well on both ends, she finishes and she plays the passing lane
Tatyanna Bailey (Austin Elite Ice) Hendrickson– her ability to score off that pull-up jumper on the baseline, at an angle, or right in the middle just has me thinking about what’s coming. Yeah, she has the college-ready body, finishes with contact but that high ceiling is, very high
Emery Espinoza-5’5 SG (DC Queens San Antonio) a growth spurt, on and off the court, has taken her game to another level. She was primarily a 3 point shooter yet she has evolved into a legitimate scoring threat from anywhere on the court and her defense has soared
Raniyah Lewis-5’9 PG (Houston Skyrise 16U 3SSB) Oak Ridge HS-nothing like a strong comeback yet she also has a step back and as I jump back to that #D1Lock I put on her in the 6th grade, she is just completing her game by makes a difference other than scoring
