It’s On Classic 2022 Tip Sheet pt 1

I had so much fun at the Houston It’s On Classic for a number of reasons but mainly seeing new talent always excites me, why, because talent is everywhere and this tournament also gave me a chance to add some players to Prep Girls Hoops Texas Top 100 in various classes but let me drop some of the top guards in the 2022 class

GENESIS MCDONALD & MIA THOMAS

DC Queens SA

Jennabelle Gonzales-5’0 (Memorial HS) creates her shot and can shoot it accurately, mid to long-range but her defense was intense, especially playing the passing lane as well as diving for loose balls

Kayla Herrera-5’5 (Alexander HS) sees the floor well, can drive and dish or keep it and finish after contact but she attacks the rim with ease after creating her shot which includes the pull-up jumper

Sophia Villalobos-5’8 SG (DC Queens SA) Alexander HS-heady, plays within herself, doesn’t force anything, under control and can score, mid to long range and watching her create her shot under pressure as well as see the floor, well I already had seen it yet she’s poised and range is even deeper

Houston Dream Red

Tianna Murray-5’6 (Katy Pateow) attacks the rim strongly with a very nice first step and can shoot the mid to long-range well with her pull-up jumper. Her athleticism on both ends created problems, her defense was smothering at times

Aliyah Solis-5’5 (Lamar Consolidated) understands how to control temp, handles the ball and sees the floor well plus she showed a nice midrange jumper

Paris Todaro-5’6 (Katy Pateow) did a good job creating her shot and showed she had pretty good range from BTA

Houston Queens Hall

Mia Thomas-5’4 (Summer Creek) shot the ball consistently throughout the tournament, mid to long-range, and showed she could create under pressure which also enabled her to attack and finish after contact

Just Play Elite 2022

Ella Smith-5’8 (St Agnes) creates her shot for the midrange very well, also attacks and finishes after contact

Skyler Witt-5’8 (Episcopal) one of the best “catch and shoot” players at the event, let me include with accuracy, mid to long-range

Katelyn Chomko-5’6 (Tomball Memorial) scores in the flow, as well as under pressure, hit key baskets throughout the event

Mackenzie McKown-5’10 (Memorial) scores mid to long-range as well as off the dribble, set defenders up nicely under pressure plus rebounds on both ends

Lady D1 Hornets

Brooke Adams-5’7 (Klein Forest) plays hard defense, uses her athleticism nicely, also rebounds

ANGELIQUE MORGAN (BALL) & ALIYAH SOLIS

Lady Pro Skills Austin

Angelique Morgan-5’6 (Harker Heights) attacks rim strong, finishes with contact, and elevates on jumper, mid to long-range plus plays solid defense, baseline to baseline as well as the passing lane

Empress Roberts-5’7 (Harker Heights) do it all guard that attacks and finishes defying gravity after explosive first step, pulls up and drops it from wherever she wants, plays the passing lane, and defends strongly

Ashunti Cooper-5’4 (Lexington) creates her shot and elevates over taller defenders to knock it down, understands how to trap, plays passing lane, and defends well

Riley Norris-5’5 (Home School) showed she could create her shot as well as knock down the long ball

JORDAN BRAVO

San Antonio Lady Hoops 2022 Platinum

Vivianna Solis-5’4 (Warren ) put on an opening day show before spraining her ankle and I wrote DAZZLING because that’s how she was with the ball either attacking or dropping it from deep, oh, she plays the passing lane

Sydney Dede-5’9 (Taft) plays the passing lane and defends well but she also creates her shot and knocked down the midrange with ease. She rebounded on both ends of the court, added some putbacks

Genesis McDonald-5’9 (Stevens) turned it on Championship Sunday as she controlled the tempo and hit teammates for gimmes yet her seeing the floor has always been consistent as well as her attacking the basket and finishing

Anissa Mata-5’4 (Johnson) attacked the basket and finished numerous times, first step is nice, that helped but so did her handling the ball under pressure and seeing the floor

Shooting Starz

Aaliyah Macias -5’4 (Heights) handles the ball well, sees the floor and scores both off the dribble and from outside which she can create under pressure

Chloe Figueroa-5’4 (Heights) scores within the flow, came up with some big plays on both ends as she amazes me to always be around the ball

Supremacy Basketball

Jordan Bravo-5’10 (McAllen) long and athletic, creates her shot nicely under pressure to either attack the rim or take the pull-up jumper and she does a good job with the “catch and shoot:
