Orrange Looks Ahead

Orrange Looks Ahead
Amber Orrange has come a long way since she left Dulles High School after her freshman season to suit up at Westbury Christian. The thing that first impressed me about the kid was how fast she was with the ball and the fact that she always was under control, which is no easy task since sometimes she’s a blur on the court. The shot wasn’t there at first and there were several knocks on what the kid could and couldn’t do, however she has continued to work extremely hard and is the highest rated player, # 15, in the city from the Class of 2011 according to Hoopgurlz.com and will be attending Stanford after she graduates.
Amber has led Westbury Christian to back to back state titles and they are favorites once again in her final season. I asked her club coach George Washington, who is also the assistant coach at Westbury Christian what he thought about his star player. “Amber is the best player I have ever coached. Her amazing athleticism, combined with her freakish work ethic, has helped to transform her into one of the top point guards in the country. Stanford is getting a special player”. I agree and looking at her stats from last season, 16.0 ppg, 7.0 apg, 6.7 rpg, 4.3 spg, 59% FG, 42% 3pt, Orrange may just lead Westbury Christian to a three-peat.
