Owens Chooses Lobos
Sometimes players fall under the radar or don’t receive the accolades they deserve for a number of reasons however things seem to work out in the long run when you can truly play. Cherisse “Bryce” Owens is one of those players and she’ll get a chance to prove herself at New Mexico once her high school career is over. Partnered alongside Jordan Jones at DeSoto, this duo forms one of the most explosive back-courts in Texas. I’ve described Owens several ways, she attacks the rim as good as anyone, she sees plays before they happen as good as anyone, and she covers more ground sideline to sideline as good as anyone, with the ability to recover, you got it, as good as anyone. She’s also a very good on ball defender however the one knock may be her outside shooting and gym time will take care of that. To give you an analogy on her covering the floor, any football player that could anticipate this well would be setting interception records. You can see for yourself as DeSoto heads down to Houston to play in the Texas Invitational this November where several of the top players in the state will be competing against each other.
