2020 All Eyez On Me HS Session 2
An overly impressive group of players at this year’s All Eyes On Me Individual Showcase closed out with a bang as some talent I had never seen as well as many I had who showed progression still has me pumped. Be sure to follow me on social media @girlzprepreport on Facebook, Twitter, and The Gram, I have a Tic Toc but I can’t dance but I’m a genius at doing this
2021
Parker Burris-5’5 G (Clear Brook HS)
Burris showed a variety of offensive skills before the games even began yet during the 5 on 5 , she simply went completely off by creating her shot under pressure and dropping the mid to long-range with ease. On top of that, she showed she could control the tempo and distribute the ball
Shayla Dede-5’7 G (Taft HS)
Dede does a good job of using her athleticism, she kept defenders leaning and attacked the basket strongly numerous times but she also understood how to get her shot off in tight situations and knocked it down numerous times
Ashley Corpus -5’7 G (Southwest Legacy HS)
Corpus was a pleasant surprise when I caught her initially during a fall league last year but the surprises have continued as she continues to show she can deliver under pressure and in the clutch but with an added step back to go with her long ball. She is fearless and attacks strongly
Hadja Bayo- 5’9 (Stony Point HS)
Bayo plays bigger than her listed size, she does the little things that add up including good footwork in the paint as well as finishing strongly after contact. She also faced the basket and scored, touch is soft, and she rebounded on both ends of the court
Jada Mangum-5’5 G (Harlan HS)
Mangum created her shot so well before the games even started that I knew what was coming as she mixed it up nicely on the offense showing the pull-up over defenders as well as shooting the long ball with ease but she also applied heat defensively
Jessica Lynn
Lynn was not only powerful in the paint but just powerful across the board as she rebounded with authority, on both ends of the floor and she put defensive pressure on whoever she was guarding, not only in the paint but outside of it as well
MAURDAISHA POWELL
2022
Sydney DeDe-5’9 F (Taft HS)
Dede not only created her shot well under pressure, she was consistent with it and her pull-up jumper was nice as she maneuvered around defenders to knock the midrange jumper down from various spots but she also attacked the basket and finished
Lillie McGinnis
McGinnis was solid during the skills and drills and just as solid when the games began. The first thing that popped out at me was that she followed her shot, a truly lost art but she also does a good job at creating and making her shot. She attacks the basket and showed she could run the point
Natalie Enders
Enders was a terror on both ends of the court and showed it even before the games began as she not only used her athleticism to attack from wherever she wanted, she played the passing lane and manned up baseline to baseline and was one of the top defenders at the event
Maurdaisha Powell-5’11 F (Dulles HS)
Powell took her game to yet another level, remember that long and athletic base I constantly speak of, well she has it and watching her glide to the basket for buckets as well as elevating over defenders for the jumper shows she’s turned a corner
Jada West 5’11 F (Brennan HS)
West uses her body well and her footwork and hands have definitely gotten even better so watching her finish, after contact as well as rebounding strongly on both ends of the court was refreshing because she’s showing progression yet her upside is still untouched, watch out
Gianna Hernandez-5’5 G (Sunnybrook Christian Academy)
Hernandez was one of the many small guards that showed size didn’t matter because she understands how to create her shot and when to take it but her pull-up jumper in transition was really good and just to keep the defense honest, she attacked the basket nicely
Anissa Mata-5’4 G (Johnson HS)
Matta falls into that hashtag #sizedontmatter because it didn’t as she definitely showed she could play and play smartly I might add she created her shot to get out of jams, knocked the midrange over and over and she attacked the basket and made nice passes while doing so
Angelina Sotelo
Soto meant business from the jump when the games began as she pushed the ball in transition very well and under control and by doing so, she hit teammates on the money for easy baskets. She also ran the offense and showed she could create her shot as well as knock down the long ball
Alyssa Berry-5’6 G (Clear Brook HS)
Berry created her shot under pressure, she also saw the floor plus she didn’t mind pushing the ball during the fast break and take it all the way but she was something to see in the open court showing “the hez” to get defenders off balance and that opened even more for her, like that jumper
Abigail Killeen-5’7 G (Brennan HS)
Killeen plays bigger than 5’7, she outrebounded taller players using #THROWBACK mentality of simply outworking them and getting position but she also uses her body well, on both ends of the floor and her attacking the basket over and over and finishing after contact is another example
Corbyn Davis
Davis plays within herself yet she’s heady, controls the tempo and makes solid passes on the money for easy baskets but outside of her seeing the floor, she also showed she could score, either with a nice pull-up jumper or attacking the basket
Braylen Sosa
Sosa was solid during the skills and drills and that transferred over to the 5 on 5 as she showed she could get hers in the flow and when you attack strongly, certain things will happen and she had options of hitting teammates or just scoring herself
Bailey Harris
Harris caught my early by applying pressure on defense during the one on one drills and kept it when the bright lights came on but she’s athletic and strong, attacks the rim hard and creates her shot which she hit consistently from the outside
Audrey Griffith-5’5 G (St. Michael’s Catholic Academy)
Griffith plays smart and within herself and does a lot of things that might not show up on a stat sheet yet the things that do show up, she did them over and over like attack the basket from various angles as well as created her shot numerous times while being tightly guarded
Mercedes Mancha-5’6 G (Alvin HS)
Mancha was on fire, how many times have I wrote that but this was different as she scored attacking the rim with either hand but her ability to see the floor as well as create her shot has always been very good yet even better as she knocked the mid to long-range down all session
MERCEDES MANCHA
2023
Breanne Casey
Casey was a late addition yet made her presence felt immediately as she showed she understands how to use her athleticism to attack the basket or create her shot, which was mid to long-range ala pull-up jumper. She also handled the ball in the open court and defended
Emma Sossaman
Sossaman was also a late addition but it didn’t take her long to show me what I needed to see and what I really liked was the fact that she plays with so much confidence and her poise, especially when creating her shot for the jumper stood out but so did her defense
Madison Parham
Parnham too was a late addition but she was also long and athletic, let me say it again, that’s the base I look at and watching her set defenders up on the wing to take them off the dribble as well as finish with contact told me a lot but her energy told me even more
Zeta Jenkins
Jenkins is hard to handle for a number of reasons because she creates her shot, mid to long-range, she scores off the dribble and she elevates off the ground either with the jumper or attacking but that elevating also helps her rebound and she had numerous put-backs as she finished with contact
Zaadiyah Stoval-5’10 F (Judson HS)
Stovall has a variety of offensive skills to get with her size and when I see players hit reverse layups as well as spin on defenders, I get pumped but she’s also long and athletic and as well as she attacks the basket, she also can score with the pull-up jumper
Niana Cano-5’7 G (Taft HS)
Cano attacks from everywhere and she finishes after the lick, off-balance at times but watching her do it from a variety of angles, not to leave out ballhandling under pressure, she was definitely a pleasant surprise
Ariana Rodriguez-5’3 G (Judson HS)
Rodriguez was shooting it well before the games began and she shot it even better once they started and by better, I also mean deeper plus she showed the ever so important “catch and shoot” and outside of shooting the three, she attacked well
Mercedes Perez-5’4 G (Taft HS)
Perez and her pull-up had me smh early as she just did it effortlessly and consistently mad e the shot. She handles pressure and handles the ball under pressure but she attacked and finished when pressure was applied to her
Madison Hurta
Hurta can “hurt ya” in so many ways offensively and when you talk about creating her shot under pressure, attacking the basket, mixing a step back with a crossover but man that “floata” just looks smoother and smoother every time I see her
Keely Cummings-5’6 G (La Porte HS)
Cummings sold me in the THIRD grade, this kid here was so focused it was amazing yet outside of being one of the best long ball shooters at the camp, Cummings plays so smartly and watching her create the contact from defenders just leaves me speechless at times
Grace Ridoutt-5’8 G (Taft HS)
Ridoutt, long and athletic, so attacking the basket was a breeze but she also can create her shot under pressure, she elevates over defenders and she has something going with that midrange game because her shot is fluid and I love her upside
Alexandria Brownlee-5’8 G (Wagner HS)
Brownlee attacks the basket powerfully and finishes equally as powerful and since I’m using that word, she rebounds the same way, with authority and that says a lot about doing it at her size and falls in to the “desire” category but her pull-up is looking pretty good
Brajha Herron-5’5 G (Communications Arts HS)
Herron was definitely a bright spot during the skills and drills as her heady play complimented her “never takes a play off” mindset so during the games, that did not change as she attacked and finished plus shot the three well but her defense was definitely noteworthy
Aaliyah Cobb-5’5 G (Brennan HS)
Cobb uses her athleticism nicely on both ends of the court, she applies pressure on defense as well as offense as she attacks and finishes strong, after contact and she creates her shot under pressure. Her mid to long range game was good and her upside is untapped
Genesis McDonald-5’9 F (Stevens HS)
McDonald is long and VERY athletic and watching her enjoy playing defense had me smiling, especially her playing the passing lane but she has a strong body and that helped her finish after contact numerous times after attacking the basket
Erika Suarez-5’7 G (Hendrickson HS)
Suarez did a good job creating her shot under pressure and she showed she could shoot the mid to long-range while being tightly guarded. The pull-up jumper wasn’t all she brought, she attacked as well as ran the offense
Emily Genovese-5’7 G (HOMESCHOOL)
Genovese attacked from just about every angle and finished with flair as well as after contact but putting it on the floor and going to the basket wasn’t all, she applied defensive pressure baseline to baseline as well as in the half-court setting
Senaida Barrientos-5’7 G (CTX)
Barrientos stood out the week before, she showed me I wasn’t seeing a mirage as the mid to long, the creating of her shot, her attacking the basket as well as finishing with contact all were in the mix but she also created her pull-up jumper under pressure well
SENAIDA BARRIENTOS battling HADJA BAYO for ball
2024
Olliana Witchet-5’10 F (Medina Valley HS)
Witchet is long and athletic and watching her attack the basket against older players while finishing after contact and not being fazed said a lot on what’s coming. She creates her shot well, picks and chooses when to attack or take the pull-up jumper
Mya Guzman-5’5 G (Stevens HS)
Guzman creates her shot so well under pressure, I have seen her numerous times get out of the trap with ease and it that’s good ballhandling and being savvy but her jumper, mid to long-range as well as her slicing to the basket makes her a definite threat
Mackenzie Amos-5’5 G (Judson HS)
Amos creates her shot like so many of the players did yet she does it instinctively and that gives her an edge especially when she can attack the rim and finish, after contact or hit the jumper, mid to long-range. Very good upside
Kennedy Cannon
Cannon creates her shot, under pressure and can mix it up by hitting the jumper or just going right at the defender. The jumper is a pull-up and it’s mid to long-range while her attacking and finishing after contact was pretty good
Emery Espinoza-5’2 G (East Central HS)
Espinoza closed it out in so many ways, she simply has a knack for making things happen and changing the momentum either creating her shot for the jumper, showing the step back or attacking the rim but that “floata” is something else
