Westside comeback highlights SBISD Invitational

The thing about MaxPreps is there are search feature and it allowed me to go back to my daughter’s senior season at Westside, 2006-07, and as I went through the roster and saw some of the names it allowed me to relive yesteryear, so in theory, I’m sort of a “homer” but in reality, I’m still an evaluator and somewhat of a writer. Klein Cain opened up the third quarter with a 12 or 14 point run so with 12 minutes left in the game and the Wolves were down by 17 against and I made a statement, check out on the Gram, that they could still win the game. To the novice, they probably thought I was just saying something just to be saying it, sort of like voting for the “best players” on a website, over and over, when you don’t know who the other players are, but to those who know, when I say something…..

My prediction came true, in a double-overtime, not quite a thriller, they actually pulled it off in the Spring Branch ISD Invitational championship. I love this picture of tournament MVP Fatou Samb, who has signed with California, with younger sister Khady, a rising sophomore for Westside but the talent on the court for both teams was a bright spot as well as the previous games, Memorial defeated Stratford for Consolation while Dulles captured 3rd place over Porter so I’ll have a recap of the All-Tournament squad which includes, remember this name, Riley McCloskey, Memorial freshman
