2019 All Eyez On Me HS Tip Sheet
ROUND ROCK, TEXAS- I try and explain things as simple as possible, there is a science to this but it’s not rocket science and when I’m covering a camp, it’s important to try and evaluate as many players as possible which is why we split the All Eyez On Me Individual Showcase. I know seems repetitive since I said the same thing earlier however making things clear has always been my goal in GBB and try and make things simple to understand because trust me, it ain’t that simple and sure isn’t easy to play at the next level so always remember, players work on your game as much as possible and take whatever you learn and bring it on the court and from what I saw, I think something clicked so here we go
2020
Arriana Faulks-guard (Ellison) explosive first step, elevates on the pull up, glides through the air, she is a scoring machine that’s athletic and acrobatic and that explosiveness I mentioned coupled with cat like defensive instincts, aka playing the passing lane, has been a joy
Aakiah Sorrels-guard (Stony Point) I always enjoyed watching her play, quick release, range and just a ton of athleticism and energy but she showed me even more because she has that drive and just pushes herself
Annalise Galliguez-guard (Westwood) she hypnotizing in some of the ball handling drills and brought me back during game situation. Heady, sees the floor and threads the needle like a master seamstress, oh yeah, she can score
Breiya Hadnot-guard (Beaumont Westbrook) came a long way to show me a lot and immediately her athletic ability stood out as she attacks from every angle with ease but that midrange was definitely nice as well as her defense
Elizabeth Daniel-guard (Eastview) creates off the dribble and under pressure nice and nails it accurately from 10-15 feet. Nice form and release, also handled the ball well under pressure and strongly attacks basket
Hailey Marie Smith-guard (Eastview) one of those “never takes a play-off” players and I’m not exaggerating because she was diving into chairs during drills. Game time, oh my, scores multiple ways, plays passing lane and defends baseline to baseline
R’Yani Vaughn-guard (Weiss) former Tip Sheet players always impress me with progression and mid to long range has expanded and that pull-up keeps em guessing. She gets after it on both ends and attacks off the dribble
Sarah Malinowski-guard (Hendrickson) all I wrote was red head, what she does is embedded in my mind and red is the right color because she was on fire from everywhere, mid to long. Creates her shot nicely, definitely a shooter
Devin Mayberry-forward (Connally) old school “you won’t outwork me” mentality and she battles for everything. Strong body is a big plus a she punishes smaller players inside yet can face the basket and score. Good hands/footwork and soft touch, rebounds on both ends
JAZRA WILLIAMS
2021
Portia Leathers-forward (Eastview) never say quit, uses her size her advantage as she understands positioning. Hands, feet, eye coordination all tie into what she keeps bring to the table because she’s a force inside, finishes strong and rebounds the same way
Destiny O’Keefe-forward (Communications Arts High) one of the best drop steps at the camp as she uses her body well and doesn’t mind physicality, either giving or taking. Finishes well but can face the basket and hit the midrange, rebounds on both ends
Jada Magnum-guard (Sunnybrook Christian Academy) consistently showed she could get to the rim and did a good job creating space for her outside shot. Athletic on both ends of the court and reacts well on anticipating passes
Kourtney Jobe-guard (McNeil) attacks powerfully and finishes strong after the lick but she enjoys the heat and is physical on defense. Her athletic ability combined with her strength created some problems as she simply goes hard all the time
Madeline Lipman-guard (Cedar Ridge) plenty of athletic guards at the camp and she definitely was one of them as she showed great timing and a knack for being around the ball. Understands how to create her own shot, nice midrange and gets to the rim easily
Alaina Antwine-combo (Keller) ultra-athletic, dove for loose balls, plays passing lane and just hustles non stop but she creates her shot nicely in traffic, mid to long range is consistent and takes defenders off dribble. Also showed she could rebound and go coast to coast effortlessly
Marissa Moreno-guard (Robstown Early College HS) went through the drills with ease and showed a variety of offensive skills however during the games, her midrange definitely stood out as she understands how to set defenders up
Jordyn Lyons-guard (Vista Ridge) when all I have written PUNISHER, it all comes back as she brought a whole lot to the table like scoring with either hand, mid to long range jumpers, attacking hard and effortlessly and a no look for icing on the cake
Zoe Nelson-guard (Hendrickson) I wrote last year that she didn’t realize how good she was and I think it’s clicked because she’s over 6’0, plays every position and can score inside, outside wherever but her defense has elevated, like she does on her shot and she rebounds but on top of all of that, her court vision was huge
Londyn Steere-guard (Glen HS Leander) long and athletic, I’ve said this a thousand times just this weekend, are big but what she does is extend on the pull-up for the mid to long jumper, she wants the ball under pressure and then she can ignite the break going coast to coast
Lanay Fuller-forward (Hendrickson) also can play big guard, that midrange looks nice and creating her shot at her size is nicer. She can put the ball on the floor, attacks off the dribble, plays passing lane and the progression she continues to show has me thinking WOW
Jazra Williams-forward (Vista Ridge) size, mobility, athleticism is something she’s always had but I’m seeing a jump in a number of things including desire is she has stars everywhere from the camp. She can stretch defense with long ball, hit midrange or attack and she creates off the dribble
DAPHNE JOHNSON attacking basket AUDIE ROGERS defending
Skylar Dunford-PG (Warren) one of those #sizedontmatter players that gets after it. Very good knowledge of the game, understands how to run a team and control the tempo. Handles ball under pressure, makes the right pass and attacks the basket
2022
Jordan Rivas-PG (Round Rock) went through the drills with high marks, got after it on both ends and showed “she got it” but in game situation, she really showed it because she created for herself and teammates, attacked basket and hit the midrange
Neveah McNeil-guard (Vista Ridge) there’s playing defense and loving to play defense and with her length and athleticism, she did plenty of damage as she rebounded strong on both ends and altered shots or just blocked them plus, she showed she could score
Daphne Johnson-PG (Austin HS) nice form and follow through, midrange pull-up was effective but what really was intriguing was her stop in pop in transition, that’s tough to do going full speed but it also explains how well she reacts on both ends of the court
Masa AlNoubani-guard (LD Bell) very active on the court and seemed to always be around the ball but her athleticism enables her to do even more and her midrange was one of the best at the Showcase as well as her ability to create and just elevate on the jumper
Makayla Wilford-forward (Round Rock) quick and accurate release, attacks the basket strongly with a deceptive first step, rebounds and defends baseline to baseline using her athleticism nicely and all are pluses but following her shot was icing on the cake
Holly Moyers-guard (Hendrickson) nice size which can create a defensive mismatch but her form never changed no matter how tightly she was guarded and her accuracy was consistent. Athletic ability ad ability to create and attack, all useful in the big picture
Kaila Hamilton-forward (Hendrickson) over the magic number of 6’0, athletic, energy galore and that lost art of “moves without the ball” all were impressive. Love her upside, she made things happen on both ends, scores and rebounds plus she defends and reacts well
Madison Ware-guard (Hendrickson) strong body, attacks and finishes, also utilized her athleticism nicely both during game situations and during the drills. I always knew “Ware” she was, in the mix getting after it, good upside
ASHLYN YARBOROUGH shooting JADA MANGUM defending ARRIANNA FAULKS & ZOE NELSON PGH Texas Top 100’s in the mix
2023
Abigail Kileen -guard (Brennan HS) brought a variety of tools to display going through the drills, heady player that creates here own shot and got to the basket over and over while taking the lick and finishing. Shot is fluid and accurate
Anissa Mata-guard (Johnson HS) not only can she create her shot but she understands how to keep defenders guessing, either by attacking or just taking the jumper. Nice athleticism as well as energy as she coming at you
Belecia Martinez-guard (Incarnate Word) how about “ring my Belle” because she’s everywhere working on her game this young lady is a baller, she wants it in the clutch and she delivers with throwback mentalitry. I didn’t even take notice, it’s in my head, long ball, mid or attacking, she just brings it on both ends
Christina Joseph-guard (Little Cypress Mauriceville) athletic and gets to the basket, goes up powerfully when she attacks the rim and finishes. Showed she could score outside, love the energy and plenty of upside because she just brings it
Gianna Hernandez-guard (Sunnybrook Christian Academy) showing combo skills as she sees the floor, yet can also score from outside but I love her stutter step, that is a huge weapon to have because it keeps defense guessing
Melissa Hornedo-PG (Antonio College Prepatory) if I wore a hat, I’d take it off for her as she showed in epic fashion that size doesn’t matter if you can play, that’s hashtag but hashtag her hesitation which had me leaning not to mention, mid to long consistently, plays the passing lane and sees the floor, oh yeah I caught everything
Ashlyn Yarbrough-POST (Lumberton) close to that magic number of 6’0 but plays over it, at this stage, that’s huge because her timing is ahead of years, she extends on her shot as she can face the basket and score and she’s long and finishes with contact
Maria Dicenta-guard (Allen HS) impressive in drills but when the bright lights came on, that mid to long range was clicking as she uses her athleticism well to create her own shot. Attacks the basket and handles the ball well, plus she defends
Mercedes Perez-PG (Taft HS) good IQ and saw the floor quite well, especially under pressure and speaking of pressure, she handles that as well while dribbling. Athletic, gets to the rim and understands how to split defenders but two things, the midrange and the floater, watch out
Tarasjah Thacker-forward (Brennan) love the upside and energy because she’s strong and powerful now and doesn’t shy away from contact, she finishes strongly after taking the hit but her desire to battle for the ball can’t be taught and she rebounds on both ends
Tse Nizhoni-Morgan-forward (Hays) strong body, dives on the floor, finishes strong, rebounds on both ends not to mention she’s around 6’0 already and all of that is very good but with her athleticism and her range, it’s long she is going to make a whole lot of noise
Audie Rogers-guard (Hardin Jefferson) heading to a HS team that went to state and is probably going back and she will add to that talented squad because she’s poised under pressure, plays the same no matter what and I love her BB-IQ so much, said that last year but she gets to the basket whenever she wants and can score mid to long range
