2018 Queen Of The Court HS Tip Sheet

'18 QOC Cardenas

NATALIE CARDENAS (DC QUEENS 2022 ORANGE)

GRAPEVINE, TEXAS-The 2018 Queen of the Court gave me a chance to see exactly what I was looking for, players capable of playing at the next level and hopefully that’s why most of those players participating in these “club basketball” events are doing this however you have to make yourselves available for knowledgeable people to see you and although I may not be in a class by myself, as the great Bum Phillips said “it doesn’t take long to call roll” and although he wasn’t referring to me, it fits but basically no one does what I do or has done as far as bringing attention to Texas, I’m dropping all that on the upcoming PODCAST not POTCAST because a lot of this stuff being told, well anyway here are some of the standouts from the HS Division, I’m dropping a few now and I’ll add some via Twitter and (or) Instagram later and I truly appreciate those who took the time to send me usable roster, without one, I’m handcuffed, get it, so here we go

'18 QOC Jawain Caston

JAWAIN CASTON (DC QUEENS HOUSTON)

2018

Jawain Caston-guard (DC Queens Houston) good size and agility, very athletic and when you combine all of those attributes with strength, everything starts to mix on the court. Love the fact that, she never takes a play off and never gets flustered no matter what. Good midrange and first step to the basket plus she defends and rebounds

Amyah Johnson-guard (Fort Worth Lady Hornets) speed is one thing but speed with the ball is another and through traffic, coast to coast or just leaving defenders sometimes defenseless is all rolled into her arsenal. She handles the ball and sees the floor well and can hit the shot but I guess her baseline to baseline defense needs to be acknowledged since she does that too

'18 QOC Tenaya McCray

TENAYA MCCRAY (DFW ELITE)

2019

Lamesha Madden-guard (DC Queens Select) every time I looked up she was finding ways to put the ball in the basket. Athletic and strong moves to the rim made her an and one waiting to happen but then she started hitting the 12-15 footer on a regular basis but the icing on the impressive cake was the long ball as her energy trickled down to her teammates

Jade Carrington-guard (Triumph Gold) several players showed they could shoot the long ball at DC Queens Queen of the Court and Carrington was dropping one every time I passed a court she was playing on and dropping them from all over but the key is defenders were on her most of the time

Tenaya McCray-forward (DFW Elite) athletic and strong are usually good signs but a better sign is when you can take and give as far as being physical on the court. Rebounded well on both ends was somewhat overshadowed by her ability to finish with contact over and over again. Good size and can take defenders off the dribble

'18 QOC Sierra Dixon

SIERRA DIXON (CY FAIR ELITE-PLATINUM)

2020

Sierra Dickson-guard (Cy Fair Elite-Platinum) I said 2020 was going to be a monster class five years ago and this young lady just keeps getting scarier as she does so many things including runs the one efficiently and understands when to take over and believe me she can do just that when needed. Handles the ball well in traffic and sees the floor very well

2021

Kendall Brown-guard (DC Queens Glover) one thing I can’t emphasize enough is that I love watching players that understand how advantageous it is to play the passing lane and Brown definitely gets it as it enabled her to go coast to coast numerous times for layups. Don’t get twisted, she also attacks from the wing, well anywhere and finishes with contact

Arielle Rosborough-guard (Team Motivate) tell you what, I get motivated just watching her work, I love players that won’t back down and she showed me that initially during a fall league game as she basically played inside. The next time I saw her during the school season and was impressed with her outside game but now, she’s taken it to yet another level as her ability to score from just about every way imaginable was on display

'18 QOC Tarpley

ALYSSA TARPLEY(LADY BIQ 2021 ELITE)

2022

Nora Ritchie-forward (DC Queens 2022 Orange) last year I wrote about jump she made and now she’s jumping over that jump because this young ladies upside is unlimited for a number of reasons including size, athleticism and more importantly than anything else, desire as she is not only willing to take the shot under pressure, unlike my mail carrier she delivers on time

Alyssa Tarpley-guard (Lady BIQ Elite 2021) created plenty of buzz dropping 8 threes in a game but I wanted to catch her myself and first of all her size, she’s not too far from that magic number colleges love, one more time 6’0 and dropping the long ball consistently at her size and against players 2 or 3 years older is definitely a good sign

2023

Natalie Cardenas –guard (DC Queens 2022 Orange) so many times you hear about players dropping threes consistently but it’s always great when you can “catch and shoot” them as well as knock them down “in the clutch” and Cardenas put on a show on Championship Sunday doing just that

Caitlyn Jordan-forward/guard (DFW Future) good size and basketball instinct plus her upside as she’s long and athletic and will hit the magic number of 6’0 which virtually gives her next level options. Nice pull-up in transition on the midrange which is a lost art and her ability to not only create her shot but get off against tight defense will add to her arsenal

Victoria Flores-guard (DFW Future) just glancing at her and watching her mannerisms, it’s hard to believe she’ll be in middle school one more year but wherever she’s headed to high school they’ll be saying four more years. She showed me what type of offensive machine she was last year and believe me it’s not a prototype, it’s for real and it won’t go out of style
