2018 Shooting 4 Da Cure HS Tip Sheet
Jaida Herndon (Texas Elite 832)
HOUSTON, TEXAS- This was my first Shooting 4 Da Cure however it definitely won’t be my last and the Houston Lady Roadrunners definitely put on a class event. I tried my best to catch as many teams as possible that sent in rosters, non-erroneous, because parents and players, no matter what you think know, what you’ve heard or what you see traveling across social media, I doubt very seriously if you truly know and comprehend how this stuff truly works and if you’re doing this with aspirations of playing at the next level, you need to try and be in front of those who not only are looking at you but know what they’re looking at and if you don’t, around November of that senior year, reality will start to sink in. I definitely saw plenty of players that could play at various levels of the next level. I’ll be Tweeting out more than I droop on the Tip Sheet so feel free to follow me on social media on both Twitter and (or) Instagram because one more time, no one does or has done what I do or did and if they say they do, they are probably lying but here you go
2019
Jaida Herndon (Texas Elite 832) Travis Scott left 832 off of Goosebumps but I got em watching the “Return of Herndon” as the 5’10 forward has simply “Bounced Back” after nagging injuries. Good size, ability to rebound and finish plus her sheer desire to get it done was impressive
Cee Cee Van Pelt (Skyrise 16U) loved how she finished no matter what, strong body, loves to battle and talks on the court, all great attributes but when she started dropping the long ball, that did it for me
Amaya Buchanan (3T Defenders) strong on inside, either scoring or rebounding, which she does on both ends plus she can step out and hit the 10-12 footer. Defends well man to man and runs the floor
Alleah Dallas (Houstonians) size, 6’0, and a college ready body only tell part of the story for this multi-sport star. Watching her progress on the court since she was 4 or 5 has been a pleasure, she defends, rebounds and finishes and has added facing the basket scoring to her repertoire
Kaylie Johnson (BDA Training) good athleticism, showed she could defend in half or open court and also did a good job of getting to the basket from various spots on the floor over and over again
Tianna Smith (Skyrise Howard 2019) never takes a play off, did the same with her HS team in the playoffs but her athleticism as well as energy trickles off to her teammates. Nice pull-up, good defender that also is an “and one” waiting to happen
Emily Nelson (Rebels Matte) does a good job of creating her shot under pressure and an even better job of nailing the midrange once she does. Mixes it up by attacking and showing the step back
Jasmine Dixon (LCA Elite Beastmode)
2020
Emily Dogbaste (Texas Elite 2020) I see the progression and that’s what I love. She’s athletic, gets to basket and finishes strong, with contact plus she shot the midrange nicely. Also rebounds and defends
Jasmine Dixon (LCA Elite Beastmode) over 6’0 with a 6’3 wingspan sets the stage on which she definitely stepped up. Deflected more shots than I had seen from any player in that span of time, runs the floor and finishes well plus she rebounds on both ends
Skyler Kutra (Rebels Lauritano) showed signs of being a truly explosive offensive player because every time I walked into the gym, she was draining a three, midrange or attacking the basket for buckets
Hailey Henry ( Texas Lady Breakers) this young lady caught my eye 2 years ago and had both of them wide open as her athleticism and attacking from everywhere was already there but that long ball not only looks good leaving her hand, it goes in consistently plus she can defend
2021
Ashlyn Jones ( Skyrise Edmond) watching her keep adding to her game over the years has been pleasant, she definitely showed signs when I first saw her and they continue to become clearer. Long and athletic, attacks well and that that outside shot, including the long ball looks good
Aalaysia Rogers ( Texas Elite Warriors 2021) I’ve mentioned numerous times that I love players that play the passing lane and she was one of the best at doing it at the event. Strong body, handles the ball, finishes with contact, scores from outside and loves to defend
Amillion Fowler (Houston Dream Blue) walked into the gym and watched her score 3 times in less than a minute on a variety of ways but that’s not what sealed it. Her desire on defense, she plays the passing lane quite well and man’s up baseline to baseline, love the energy
Ashley Ngene (Rebels Poth) plays bigger than 5’11, very athletic and elevates on both rebounds and defense where she alters shots or just blocks them. Moves her feet well and reacts quickly which are also pluses, good upside
Sincere Roberts (Shooting Starz) with multiple long ball shooters including Gracelyn Alvarez and Trinity Frias who both went completely off, size in the middle from Roberts is SINCERELY huge for the squad as it will open up more things. Roberts is strong, finishes and rebounds strong and won’t quit
2022
Sydney Ward ( Texas Elite 2022) I envision her making an immediate impact in high school after the impact she made on me during the event. She’s just under the magic number of 6’0, is ULTRA athletic and just creates so many problems on both ends of the floor, upside is scary
