2017 Prime Time Nationals Tip Sheet

PLANO, Texas- The 2017 Prime Time Nationals continues to prove one of the things that I always say, talent is everywhere and the variety of talent that continues to come through Prime Time events truly keeps me on my toes. I wrote recently that I identified well over a hundred players in the elementary and middle school divisions that not only had next level potential but were D1 locks, that tells you right there but players with the ability to play somewhere in college didn’t stop there as the high school divisions had several standouts that also show that too can play college ball somewhere and I’m talking hundreds. Here are some of the many that caught my eye over the four day event

KEAUNDRA EDDINGS

2018

Keaundra Eddings –PG (Brazos Valley Elite) one of the best championship day individual performances from an individual I’ve seen all season came from this young lady. She takes defenders at ease; she shoots the mid and long range consistently, knows when to push the tempo and sees the floor. She also defends and anticipates so well, I bet she knows if I had an MVP for the event it would be her

Teshuna Lockhart-PG (Houston Silver Stars) explosive first step, defends and loves to play passing lanes. Handles the ball well under pressure plus is fast with the ball. Gets to the basket with ease, nice pull-up and can score multiple ways but ability to see the floor definitely is a plus

Jasmin Taplin-PG (Oklahoma Lady Defenders) small guard but again, when you can play size doesn’t matter and Taplin can go. Speed is great but when you can handle the ball under control combined with speed, that’s huge. Nice pull-up in transition, finishes strong with contact, has range and loves to defend

Arriana Manzay-Post ( Team Rise Blue) she’s 6’2 with probably a 6’4 wingspan and with her athleticism, block and (or) altering shots has become a definite positive. Continues to show me something new every time I see her, still rebounding and running the floor but finishing with contact has definitely improved and she ain’t done

Lainie Ballard-Guard (Armoured Elite) being able to create your own shot under pressure is always a positive and when you can knock down the shot, I guess that’s a double positive but I’m positive that mid or long range, you better be on her or else it’s almost automatic

BLAKELY GERBER

2019

Blakely Gerber-Guard (West Texas Breeze) listed at 6’0, she definitely plays even taller because she not only rebounds well on both ends, she does it against taller players. Love watching her attack the basket and finish with contact, good hands and can face the basket and score

Anointing Olufemi-Forward (Texas Elite Habry) long, athletic, runs the floor and defends are only the start. Good timing on defense gets her easy blocks and she knows how to position herself for rebounds and easy baskets

Allison Steen- Wing (Arkansas Lady Cardinals) where do I start, love that ability to elevate, long and athletic so that right there enables her to rebound and block shots but I love her timing. In the open floor, you really don’t know what’s coming because she can blow by defenders or hit the jumper

Ariel Warren-PG (NTX Elevate Elite) proves again size doesn’t matter, especially when you can play and this young lady never takes a play off. Defends baseline to baseline, energy trickles down to teammates. She’s extremely fast with the ball, attacks at will and can shoot the long ball but on top of all that, she can run a team effectively

Lauryn Reither-PG (Oklahoma Lady Jazz) I can’t emphasize how much I love and enjoy seeing players that play the passing lanes and Reither does that and a lot more. She attacks the basket nicely along with creating her show but the creating doesn’t stop there as she sets her teammates up well. Good ball-handler under pressure

Parris Parmer-PG (San Angelo Fusion) smart player that plays within herself, good athleticism, gets to the basket and finishes strong, handles ball well under pressure and makes the right passes at the right time

Amyah Johnson-PG (Fort Worth Lady Hornets Collier) several explosive point guards participated in the event and Johnson was one of the best. She mixes it up so well on offense that you better be ready because with her range along with ability to take defenders to the basket, keep in mind she plays under control, sees the floor and defends

Tiona Perkins-Post (High 5 Elite) good size listed at 6’2 but plays even taller and with her length, athleticism and agility, she creates problems on offense and defense. Nice hands, finishes strong and she battles for rebounds on both ends. Plenty of upside remains and with her desire, watch for even more

ALYSSIA THORNE

2020

Shanequa Henry-PG (Texarkana Tarheels) this is one of those players I didn’t have to take a note on, just looking at her picture brought everything back. Listed at 5’10, her length and athleticism running the point combined with her age and skill set will keep her mailbox full. She gets to the basket with ease and sees the floor very well. Love her upside and she can drain it outside

Hannah Matthews-Post (Aggieland Sports Association) over 6’0 with a college ready body at this age sort of sets the stage however what definitely adds to the props is the progression on which I’ll give her her props. Strong rebounder on bot ends and finishes just as strong but her defense and passing from the post have definitely improved

Amethyst Mosquera-Guard (Texas Lady Warriors) plays multiple positions and is polished enough to mix it up inside. Rebounds on both ends but that ability to get to the basket fr buckets stood out and with her athleticism she can bring heat on defense

Alyssia Thorne-Guard (Texas Lone Star Red) this was one of those times when I actually got up and asked who a player was so that right there tells you something. She’s physical going to the basket and finishes strong, love watching her attack but she defends just as strong. Rebounds well against taller players and “that upside” ….

Alyana Washington-Guard (Waco Elite 2020) really impressed me the first time I saw her and the encore showed no let down. Two things, never takes a play off and goes hard baseline to baseline and by that, either attacking the basket or defending, she keeps coming. Nice stop and pop on the midrange

Miannah Little-Guard (Waco Lady Panthers) it was a show on Championship Sunday in the HS Division and Little played a BIG part in it. When I say EXPLOSIVE like that, off the dribble or letting it fly from deep, she put on one of the best scoring exhibitions of the event. Handles the ball and defends, young and wants “it”

Trinity Smith-PG (CTX Lady Legends 2020) handles the ball well under pressure, sees the floor and can get to the basket. Shoots three consistently and can defend baseline to baseline

Tykara Robinson-Guard (Dynasty Moore) I love throwback players and when you can do what she does against taller players, I just smile and think back. She just won’t let you outwork her, battles on both ends, finishes and rebounds and has a very huge upside  

BREANNA KELLEY

2021

Taylor Jackson-Post (Katy Rebels Lauritano) size and body and this age, skill set ahead of the game. Nice hands and footwork, loves to battle in paint, rebounds on both ends and finishes strong. Continues to show progression, nowhere near the finished product and the desire to battle is something you can’t teach

Breanna Kelley-Post (Team Rise White) I saw her initially a little over a month ago and the improvement in that time span alone tells me something, you better be ready. She’s 6’2 and has the physique for the next level now, love her poise and she just gets after it on both ends. When I speak of upside, hers is unlimited because with her size and desire, she could wind up BCS

Marissa Tell-Forward (Southern Kushers Academy) she’s just under 6’0 with a 6’2 wingspan and the little things she does at this age sort of tell me what big things are coming. She’s athletic ,can handle the ball and watching her in the open court now already grabs my attention but trust me, she’s nowhere near the finished product and with her upside, big things are coming

Kel’ Neisha Moore-Post (Brazos Valley Elite 15U) encore do you want Moore, yes I do and the more I watched the squad the more I saw someone different. Moore’s body and strength combined with her age and ability showed me a lot. Rebounds and finishes plus she won’t quit and that’s definitely something you can’t teach

Kayleigh Edwards-Post (CC Express) when you’re right around 6’0, that’s always a good thing because I’m still getting calls from college coaches for 2017 players that fit that mode and school starts in a couple of weeks. Edwards has a lot longer than a couple of weeks left and based on what I foresee her upside to be, she’ll be okay. Good body, rebounds and finishes
