2014 Prime Time Nationals at Fieldhouse
FRISCO, Texas-Fieldhouse USA was hot and heavy last week and I saw a glimpse of the future. What I truly enjoyed more than anything was watching players as young as the 3rd grade grasping and comprehending what was being taught and also how to react in game situation. Watching the kid watch the clock and drain the three to send a game into overtime or watching those who understood that shooting a three on a four on one fast break while only leading by a couple with under 30 seconds probably wasn’t the thing to do. Oklahoma Select-Red sent a message as they easily captured the 7th grade title of Houston Skyrise Elite. Ginger “The Beast” Reece , Maci Gore and Krystn Jones all showed they could do a variety of things on the floor but this team is loaded. The same could be said for Skyrise who went down but not without a fight, especially in pool play. Elizabeth “Great” Scott, along with Reece, have already shown me they will be BCS players but the talent between the two clubs was amazing. Amanda Ferry, Ashley Daniel and Alecia Whyte along with Scott, gives them one of the most imposing front lines I’ve seen among young squads
The Oklahoma Swarm lost to tough D1Shooters Destiny 2020 team in the 6th Grade Division but let me go on record and say that Kaelyn Levings is legit. She’s over six feet, runs the floor, shoots the three, watch out but there are others ready to Swarm all over you. Shooters also had a great mixture, especially with kids already knocking down the midrange like Tyler Jackson. Gabby Mureeba played huge, I could tell she’s used to that and the point guard, Nevaeh Tot was definitely able to get to whatever spot she wanted. Tell you what, I’ll do something on each team on the blog, too much talent and not enough time right now so be patient, its coming
