Toughest area districts sweep round one

2013 Kf Taz hustle

HOUSTON. Texas-I try and analyze things on how they should play out but just because it’s supposed to happen doesn’t always guarantee it will. This season, the two best districts in the Houston area, 13 and 17, swept all of their first round games. In the past other districts have been swept, I’ve made several mentions of the No. 4 seeds beating the No. 1 seeds in the opening rounds however many of those times the districts were disproportionate as far as talent levels. This go round in District 13, that was not the case as Klein Forest, who in all theory probably should have finished higher than third place, defeated a talented A&M Consolidated team while fourth place finisher Kingwood, who I called a sleeper in the preseason, defeated an impressive The Woodlands squad. The second round is going to be tough for all four teams in 13, Dekaney vs Stony Point, Atascocita vs Cedar Ridge, Klein Forest vs Bowie and Kingwood vs Pflugerville and I’ve seen all of the Houston area opponents except Cedar Ridge, but I know they have ’15 Texas commit Lashaan Higgs

2013 Cy Fair Cy Woods hustle

District 17 took care of business rather easily; No. 4 Cy Ranch defeated top seeded Eisenhower by 13 but Ranch was only a four due to injuries, while the other games, Cy Fair defeating Davis, Cy Creek over Nimitz and Cy Woods win against Elsik weren’t close. This district has a shot at sending two teams to the Campbell Center for the area F-4. Cy Woods vs Westside is a rematch from last season’s Sweet 16 game that saw Woods win 64-62 in OT. Cy Creek vs Katy Taylor, Cy Ranch vs Seven Lakes, who made it to the Campbell Center last season and Cy Fair vs Bellaire, who actually made it to the area final. Cy Fair is making a return to the playoffs, something they’ve dominated since the turn of the century. There is no guarantee on anything at this stage and again, you only have to be the best team that particular game
