’21 UNSIGNED seniors heading to playoffs
Talent is everywhere, it always has and it always will and sometimes things that separate players from going to the next level who are better players than some that actually make it happens for a number of reasons, politics and package deals have always played a role, now you have deepfake videos with players going completely off against players who will NOT play at the next level and don’t get me started on stats, which is meaningless to me when I input “it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against” and now we have the PANDEMIC which kept many colleges away from events so this has been hard for many who actually can play at the next level
Taliyah Johnson (Temple) is one of the top senior point guards in the state, she’s explosive off the dribble, handles the ball well under pressure, and can see the floor plus she can score, mid to long, or attacking the rim as they open against Cedar Hill
Valerie Panuco (Whitney) Panuco is one of the top defenders at the guard spot and her ability to score in the flow just jumps right out at you as well as her BB-IQ because she always plays within herself yet finds ways to make things happen, positive things as they open against Malakoff
Meagan Hamilton -5’10 SF(Klein Cain) Hamilton is a force to be reckoned with, saw that first time she arrived in Houston yet she had an injury and is just coming back yet that passion and energy is there, so is her overpowering defenders to finish as well as rebound on both ends of the court as they open against Langham Creek
Madelyn Tellez (Dobie) Tellez is sort of like the “silent assassin because she can score in the flow, from mid to long-range and when you look at the stat sheet, she’s filled it up. She’s under control and plays within herself but her poise, especially under pressure just jumps out as they open against Westbrook
Amber Williams (Cy Springs) Williams falls into the “scorers” category because she simply finds ways to put the ball in the basket. I saw that before high school and I’ve watched it elevate during the high school season. She creates the mid to long, attacks or battles for rebounds which lead to put-backs as they open against Klein Collins
Shanna Petty (Westside) pound for pound, inch for inch, you won’t find a tougher competitor and not only is she one of the top defenders in the state, her offensive game has exploded the past two seasons. She has range, mid to long as well as the ability to take defenders from the wing and finish after contact as they open against Jersey Village
Alazae Maldonardo-Jackson is relatively unknown to me but after checking out some clips, she definitely has something to work with, that’s apparent as she is averaging a shade under 20 PPG and she’s putting up numbers in a variety of ways as her talented squad opens against Angleton
Here is the interactive bracket for 6A
Well, I think it’s interactive and S/O to Coach Trey (Houston Dream) for taking the time to put this together for the Houston area
