2027 Girlz Got Game Tip Sheet
It was refreshing to see some young talented players that I hadn’t seen before, let me add, that understand the game because keep in mind I’ve been out here observing for over 20 years and the game has changed so many times yet when you have the basics down for a foundation and you starting adding, that will take you a long way. Here are 16 players from the 2027 class that showed me something either during the drills or actual games
Brooklyn Eubanks-let me start off with she’s “long and athletic’ which I call the base but she adds by reading the defense, this includes playing the passing lane and watching her attack off the dribble and finish after contact tells me what’s coming
Maddie Broxterman-already understands how to create her shot off the dribble and watching her set the defender up and take them with a deceptive first step was nice, so was her finishing as well as handling the ball under pressure
Shamiah Taylor-long and athletic and SWB, speed with the ball, and watching her handle it coast to coast under pressure had me smiling as she showed body control on her finishes but when she showed the step back on her jumper, awe man
Emery Beckett-one of the standouts in the 1 on 1 drill because she made it look easy taking defenders multiple ways off the dribble to finish but when she showed the crossover, that did it, and as she gets older, I see that becoming one of her go-to moves
Tori Hines– attacked the rim yet also showed the pull-up jumper with a hand in her face but what she also did was “see the floor” and throwing crisp passes in traffic on the money for assists was solid
Taylor Hines– did a good job creating her shot to give her options on taking the outside shot or attacking the basket but her energy on defense definitely stood out because she applies pressure well
Saania Khawaja-another 1 on 1 standout that understands how to take it to the defender and by creating her shot for the pull-up kept them guessing because she attacked and finished from everywhere
Elizabeth Lee– long and athletic, you know what that means, but her B/C, body control, will give headaches and factor in two big things, her stutter step to get the defender leaning and her ability to drop the long ball…
Amierah Moore– long and athletic, did a good job in the 1 on 1 drill and showed she could do the same in the games so attacking with either hand and finishing strongly was nice, so was her “on ball” defense
Alivia Nieto– handles the ball well under pressure and saw the floor yet she took defenders off the dribble and attacked the rim numerous times and when you consistently show you can do that, that’s pretty impressive
Carlie Petro-her pressure defense was among the best in the session, that along with her playing the passing lane but she also handled the ball well, created her shot to attack or take the shot and she saw the floor
Lilian Walker– did a good job rebounding, she understands positioning right now so that is definitely a good sign, so was her attacking the basket strongly but she mixes it up nicely on offense and showed she could the jumper
Miya Johnson-long and athletic defended and did well during the 1 on 1 drill, has good upside, understands how to score in the flow
De’Mya Jones Jackson scored off the dribble in the 1on 1 drill, then showed the jumper and showed she could handle the ball coast to coast and see the floor
Emily Roman– creates her shot well, attacked and finished, also showed the outside shot and made solid passes on the money
Arissa Alaniz– applied pressure defensively, handles the ball under pressure and attacked the basket and finished strongly after contact
