2023/24 July Cheat Sheet
I just get tickled over the nonsense I see on social media, deepfake videos, outrageous ranking, and even more ingenious is the lying about receiving offers to get other college coaches to bite. All these have contributed to an overloaded PORTAL and I always say and tweet, that I am not a PC. acronym for Portal Contributor.
A quick review of who I am, well I’m the dad of a daughter who had over 100 D1 offers plus she has also played for about 9 years in the WNBA. Oh yeah, in between she helped lead Texas A&M to the National Championship in 2011 but that doesn’t mean anything about what I know and have done
I started covering Texas because the National media wasn’t covering it like I believed they should so after whining and complaining, I JUST DID IT to help ALL players capable of playing at some level of the next level. Now you evaluators popping up everywhere saying they “have the plug” or “know all the college coaches, to be honest, I’m sick of doing this but I have 3 granddaughters so I’m hanging around a few more years, just in case
I’m going to give you all a heads up on some players you might want to check out, all have good grades and carry themselves well on the court, meaning they won’t be disruptive, that’s pretty big too right, yes it is and it helps that they can play at the next level, here you go
D1
Tobi Ademuwagun @TobiAde34 (Hoop Society-Team Spaz) stands over 5’10 yet plays as if she’s over 6’0 and she already has several low to mid offers on the table, I said this young lady was one of the most underrated players in Texas 3 years ago, she exploded off the ground for rebounds and battles for everything off the rim. Yes, she scores around the basket and off the dribble but has added the long-ball. Solid defender
July 6-8 Super 64 Dallas, 20-22 War Games, and 25 Summer Slam Atlanta
Avari Berry @avvarriii (Austin Elite RFW) is a shade under 5’7, she’s long and athletic so her wingspan has her at 5’8 yet her “poise under pressure” has just taken off to yet another level. Her ball-handling and court-vision are among the top PGs in her Texas class and she understands how to control the tempo and run the offense. She also can score, mid to long, off the dribble acrobatically and after contact but the KEY is she makes those around her better
July 6-8 Super 64, 10-12 Neville Jones Invitational, 20-22 Orlando Splash, 23-25 Basketball On The Bayou
Shalayne Morgan @Shalayne12 (Houston United 832) she’s something to see in the open court, standing around 5’8, she can outrebound players over 6’0 and go C2C with the ball, under pressure. Her stop and pop in transition creates problems, and so does her attacking and finishing after contact but she also can drop the long ball. Another huge part of her game is her “on the ball” defense baseline to baseline and she plays the passing lane
July 6-8 Super 64, 11-12 Blueprint, 20-22 Orlando Splash. 23-25 National Championship (Orlando)
OTHERS–D2-NAIA
Aniyah Sanford @Aniyah2023 (Houston United 832) 5’5 PG yet her ability to control the tempo and run her team is among the best in the state. She sees the floor, is vocal on the court, and scores from outside as well as attacking the basket yet her UPS has me mesmerized at times as she has battled against taller players, some over 6’0 for rebounds but you won’t outwork her
July 6-8 Super 64, 11-12 Blueprint, 20-22 Orlando Splash. 23-25 National Championship (Orlando)
Riley McCloskey @RileyMcCloskey3 (Just Play Elite 17U Gold) is a 5’5 guard that sees the floor, she’s almost a prototypical “pass first” because she sets the defender up nicely to set her teammates up and when you can throw blazing passes from 25 feet on the money, with either hand, that’s special so are her dishes off the dribble yet she can score from outside, long ball included
July 5-8 Run For The Roses, 20-22, Orlando Splash 23-25 National Championship (Orlando)
Macie Whitfield @macie_whitfield (Houston United 832) 5’8 G that plays within herself, doesn’t force anything yet always seems to make something happen to change the momentum whether it’s diving on the floor for loose balls or taking charges, she thinks the game, on both ends. She also can score off the dribble and finish with either hand plus she can score from outside as well
July 6-8 Super 64, 11-12 Blueprint, 20-22 Orlando Splash. 23-25 National Championship (Orlando)
Rebecca Meyer @RebeccaM2023 (Houston United 832) is long and athletic, almost at 6’0, wingspan has her over and one thing that I love is her becoming more aggressive. She has good timing to block shots, she understands positioning to rebound and she finishes well around the basket. She also can score from the wing while being defended as well as facing the basket but that interior defense needs to be mentioned as well
July 6-8 Super 64, 11-12 Blueprint, 20-22 Orlando Splash. 23-25 National Championship (Orlando)
Eryn Lloyd @e_lloyd05 (Houston United Bobby) is one of the best defensive guards in the Houston area yet she has even taken that to another level. There is no QUIT in her, she has worked on her outside shooting and the dividends are paying off but she also does a good job running her team, she’s 5’5, and she understands how to set her teammates up for easy baskets
July 6-8 Super 64, 11-12 Blueprint, 20-22 Orlando Splash. 23-25 National Championship (Orlando)
Keely Cummings @keelycummings11 (Houston Skyrise ) is poised and confident under pressure, and the 5’7 PG gets everyone involved while getting hers in the flow. She has very deep range and is one of the best CLUTCH shooters in Texas, I have witnessed countless 4-point opportunities in person but she definitely mixes it up to score off the dribble while finishing after contact
July 5-8 (Hoosier War Games) Indianapolis 10-12 (Select 40 Session II) Westfield IN 20-22 (Battle In The Heartlands) Hamilton OH 23-25 (Select 40 Nationals)
Madison Olguin @MadisonOlguin21 (San Antonio Infinity) heady 2 guard that doesn’t force anything offensively and does a good job of letting it come to her. She creates her shot to attack off the dribble, nice midrange but her OTB defense has elevated, she plays the passing lane and also rebounds on both ends of the court. Her BB-IQ is high, and so is her upside
July 5-8 (Run For The Roses) Louisville 20-22 (Orlando Splash Tournament) 23-25 (Orlando National Championship)
2024
Ashna Tambe @AshnaTambe (Team Lex 16U) is a perfect example of why I evaluate myself. Her former club coach sent an email about “who I need to watch” she wasn’t one of the top players mentioned yet 2 minutes into the game, I knew who the PLAYER was. She is on a team with 4 incoming freshmen (2026) who have received BCS offers already but are also receiving offers. High BB-IQ, well IQ period as she is IVY League ready but is also D1 ready, trust me please, I’m not a PC, remember
July 6-8 Super 64, 9-11 Adidas 3SSB (Rockhill, SC) 21-23 Adidas 3SSB Nationals (Ladera Ranch, CA) 24-25 The Premier Encore (Irvine CA)
Asia Waddell @AsiaWaddell_25 (Texas Flight Elite) progression continues as I have a glimpse here and there but her defense has always been there, on the ball as well as in the set, she has become more offensive-minded and showing the jumper as well as off the dribble
July 6-8 Super 64 Dallas, 20-22 War Games, and 25 Summer Slam Atlanta
Olivia Sauvageau @LivySbasketball (Just Play Elite 16U Gold) heady PG that stock is rising as I type. She is tough, her finishes after contact just amaze me at times yet she can run a team ann score from mid to long-range, court vision, ball-handling, talks on the floor, on both ends
July 5-8 Run For The Roses, 20-22, Orlando Splash 23-25 National Championship (Orlando)
