2022 TJ Showcase MS Standouts
I always enjoy catching the BABIES because I can spot a player a mile away, even without 20/20 vision as my years progress, yet it’s also the PROGRESSION I look for in these younger players. It’s always good to see them in various settings because, why, because I said so and there IS no ME but nevertheless, I caught some “stars of tomorrow” at the event, and here are some of them who haven’t played their first HS game yet
Mariyah Alfred (SETX 2025) all bets are off on her upside as her explosiveness off the dribble as well as her acrobatic finishes but her body control is ahead of her years, she elevates on the jumper and she was playing up, she’s class of 2027
Serenah Coleman (SETX 2027) I told her at the #AllEyezOnMe Individual Showcase we had the same initials so I wanted to see what she could do, she showed me and continued to do it on Sunday. Court vision is scary right now, she made several “big girl” passes plus she can score off the dribble or from way outside
Nadine Adeleke (Austin Elite Sparks) rebounded strongly, in fact, went after everything off the rim, and even scored on putbacks but her quick hands created some steals and she did a good job attacking and finishing
Rayne Maxwell (CE Elite 2026) I’m almost ready to drop #D1Lock because she’s long and athletic, that will always be the base, and her first step is devastating, she’s hard to handle in the open court because of her range yet her zig-zagging in traffic is extremely nice, plus she finishes after contact
Zonai Cook (Competitive Edge) I think I already dropped #D1Lock on her, if I didn’t, throw away the key because she LOVES the game and told me she needed one to speed up because she had to go play on her regular squad, you can’t teach that but her ballhandling is better than many heading to the next level now, she’s a 2028 and the fire she brings on both ends is why THAT KEY is thrown away
Falon Stroup (Phoenix 2026) has nice size and understands how to use but I just have this thing about players that “go after the ball” off the rim and she does that but she also finishes around the basket, yes that includes putbacks but watching her play the passing lane JUST DID IT for me
Karlee Konarik (Phoenix 2026) the variety of ways she scored was overly impressive. She can flat out shoot it, mid to long-range, she can score off the dribble but she does something very special and that is “understands how to create contact”Defense was solid, and yes, she played the passing lane
Molly Frazer (Team Lex Austin 2026) I love players that can create their shot and knock it down with a hand in their face, she does that but she also does it from DEEP and mixes it up nicely to score both off the dribble and the midrange
Summer Sodek (Austin Elite Sparks) heady player that lets the game come to her, nothing fancy just solid, and watching her drop the deep one in the clutch keeps my adrenaline going but she also shoots it well from midrange and finished strongly after contact
Rileigh Good (TWE 2026) it’s ALL GOOD because I’ve caught her several times over the years and that PROGRESSION I constantly talk about is what continues to impress me. She scores off the dribble, battles for rebounds, and even scores on putbacks yet her defense is also solid
Sophia Rodriguez (Houston United Bobby) filled it for the team and was sick, and so was her game, in a good way because she came in just in THE ZONE and immediately put up numbers. I like her size, her ability to shoot the ball while being pressured as well as her mindset when I asked her how did she fill playing with the older girls, her response was “I loved it, this is what I need to get ready for high school” and one more time as I close this segment YOU CAN’T TEACH THAT
