2022 Summer Slam Day 2 HS Elite Tip Sheet
I was looking over my note from both days so guess what else I’m dropping? Good because I don’t even know yet I’m pretty clever, at least at this, so an ALL DEFENSIVE TEAM, A SCORING TEAM, an INSIDE PRESENCE TEAM as well as what I still continue to PREACH, the game starts at the ONE so until then, here ya go and one more time, I appreciate those who took their valuable time to send me in a roster, otherwise I have no time to investigate who players are, well actually I do but I am NOT
India Jackson (IJU 17U) 2023– let me drop a throwback #BEAST hashtag because she was simply amazing in the interior, on both ends and her battling for everything had me smiling yet her supporting her teammates from the sideline, yes it’s a video, in itself just took me back to another era. She finished with players literally hanging on her, defended both inside and outside the paint
Eryn Lloyd (Houston United Bobby) 2023– started to drop her on the ALL-DEFENSIVE team because I love the heat she applies yet her scoring continues to improve as well as her ability to run a team. Directing traffic and being vocal was a couple of intangibles I enjoyed seeing, as well as her first step and pull-up jumper, yet I have to go back to that “on the ball” pressure she does so well
Rebecca Meyer (Houston United 832) 2023– her aggressiveness continues to get better as she’s adding the athletic to the ‘long and” I speak so much about, Good timing to block shots, she took charges, yes it’s a video and it’s also a video, yet not as good as the charge, with her going baseline for the reverse so that and her playing the passing lane was all good
Crystal Jones (Austin Elite RFW) 2023– can I drop another #BEAST as she was a terror to be reckoned with, or is that a force, well the force was definitely with her as she positioned herself to grab almost everything off the rim as well as her powerful finishes yet she also attacked the rim from multiple angles and scored, after contact, scored off putbacks as well
Emma Potts (Just Play Elite Gold 17U) 2023– smooth under pressure and able to get hers in the flow just about SIMS it up, yes I made it about me since I wrote about her potential as she headed into middle school but she’s so versatile, defensive stopper grabs rebounds in traffic and clutch scorer yet her poise in the clutch was nice
Nyah Hardy (Houston Lady Roadrunners) 2023– I should have saved her for the ALL-OFFENSIVE squad but I changed my mind because she changed the momentum from either end. The pull-up jumper in transition was virtually unstoppable as well as her explosiveness off the dribble to score after contact, plus she played the passing lane
Tikeah McKenzie (Truth) 2024– long and athletic is and will always be the base so when you intangibles like she did score off the dribble, rebounded on both ends, and played the passing lane, that’s how you judge yet the pluses continue as she dropped the jumper, with a hand in her face and also applied solid “on the ball” defensive pressure
Camryn Beck (Houston United Chuck) 2024– grabbed everything off the rim and showed she could go coast to coast afterward so with her being “long and athletic” and able to leap over taller players with a single bound, no Kryptonite was holding her back. She blocked, deflected and altered shots and her energy trickled down to her teammates. Elevated over defenders to score, guess I should mention that as well
Ava LeBlanc (Houston United Madison) 2025– her quick hands had me smiling as several “pockets were picked” and when you factor in she also understands the importance of playing the passing lane. She handles the ball under pressure and showed the pull-up jumper from mid to very long-range yet she also saw the floor well
Garlyn Grant (IJU 14U) 2026– athletic guard with some pretty good upside and her enjoying applying pressure on the ball had me smiling. She has quick hands and came up with several steals yet she also forces her man into the trap to create turnovers. She can score off the dribble and finish after contact and she also did a good job creating her shot
